....Literally. The right side of my face is really warm, red and flushed but the left side is all normal and I'm sure look all sorts of crazy :-D

This started a few days ago and it doesn't really hurt, feels like a blush you get when you are embarrassed but that's all, it's really more of a nuisance. I did what you arent supposed to do and I googled it LOL and nothing really explains what I have, every other thing has a variety of other symptoms that I don't have. Like Harlequins Syndrome has the one sided facial flushing but accompanied with sweating, and I'm not sweating. I don't know what it is. I do have a doctors appointment but in 10 days because that's the soonest they had but super impatient me wants to know nowwwwww. lol

Hopefully it won't be something too serious, wish me luck all!

    Hi Dya

Weird are some medical ills, so suggestions are from me, are you stressed as stress or anxiety can cause skin blemishes.

Used new soap or shower gell etc?
    Washing soaps?

but in the end see a Doctor and more so a dermatologist as its skin related for a diagnosis, but think what have you done lately or changed lately that could have triggered this, maybe more shoes??

I did buy new shoes but then I brought them back because they were too big :(

The only think I can think of that coincides with this is I started taking a multivitamin around the time this started. I was feeling really exhausted (like coming home and falling asleep exhausted for really no good reason) before which was why I got the appointment initially. A friend suggested I take a multivitamin and I thought it was a good idea so bought some and started taking them at the beginning of this week. Then this started 2 days ago, I think.

Maybe I'm just really sad over the loss of the shoes. LOL

Ah ok the multivitamin what's the brand and type of vits? it maybe an imbalance in your system and one vitamin you do not need as you have enough via diet or you are allergic to it, at times we can be intolerant to various minerals.

If you stop taking these multivitamins and then see where you are in a few days it will give you a good indicator of the cause or not, if you still have the same skin issue see your doc.

Ten days is too long to wait, IMHO.

We have Urgent Care Centers here that are 'walk in' clinics and they will take new patients even in the evening
as late as about 7:30 P.M.

I have gone several times when I don't want to wait to see someone at the clinic I generally go to.
One good thing about that is that I always see an MD, not a nurse or a physicians assistant and usually
I feel that he's very good. It varies somewhat depending on the location.

See if you can find something nearby and give them a call.

I'm no Dr., but I did used to be a Nurse, of all things. BOOMM may have a point with the Niacin flushing thing. Worth looking into, i.m.o. - in which case, it's nothing serious and will probably settle down after a few weeks. In general, it does sound lie a blood circulation type of thing, which is not necessarily anything to be alarmed about.
As usual, the Caveat with forum medical advise applies. We can't tell you too much across cyber-space, so see the Doc., which you already plan to do, anyway. Yeah, Vitamin B deficiencies, (not C, strangely enough), is the most common vitamin deficiency in most western countries. Not the least, because Vit. B's break down at 90 deg C, so any cooking kills off the C & B vitamins.

To me, the flushing sounds like some type of allergy, but the fatigue seems more like a low grade viral infection or possibly stress and anxiety.

If it's an allergy, a small dose of a common over-the-counter antihistamine might bring some relief. Ask a pharmacist.

It's late :tired - watching War Of The Worlds :guns - shouldn't be playing doctor. LOL

I think it was something like these (because I'm a big kid at heart, I must not be the only one if they actually created an entire line of gummy vits just for adults LOL). I bought them at the suggestion of my friend who said that you can get fatigued from not having enough B12 ( B12 Deficiency Anemia, which I did have when I was younger). When I started taking them, I did actually stop feeling so fatigued but then, this happened. So, I'm not sure, maybe the dose is too high? Guess, the dr. will tell me for sure.

Thanks, it makes sense. I don't know which one is worse; to be exhausted or to look like a freak show? :confused :-D

I don't know. Maybe. I've read too many diagnosis of what it could be.

We have them here and the rule of thumb (at least in this area) is you don't go there either unless you are dying or bleeding to death. They are the most incompetent set of "doctors" ever.

Example: At my previous job, I slipped on some gravel/rocks and not only did I fall and land with all my weight on my right wrist, but I also slid a good distance ON my palm/wrist. I had (not to be gross) a huge triangle shaped chunk of skin/tissue that you could actually lift out of my palm. They had this deal with one of those sort of places and I went there for them to fix my hand. That woman stabbed me with not 1, 2 or even 3 but 4!! very pointy needles in the middle of my very open wound. I kid you not when I say that was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. The wound wasn't very big but it was an odd shape, it was about 2 inches on each "side" of the triangle, roughly from the bottom of my thumb to the top of my wrist but in the center of my palm (If you can picture that, it's not very big). She waited a few minutes to wait for the pain killer to kick in (about 5 minutes) and then started to sew it. She got 2 (!!) stitches in and was working on a 3rd when I was able to start feeling the pain again. She asked if I wanted to get numbed again and I said a most emphatic NO! so she wrapped my hand up and sent me back to work.

Around midnight that night, I was with my friend and her mom and her mom asked to look at my hand (she works for a hospital). My wrist was swollen to probably 3 times it's normal size. She said "That's not good, I'm taking you to the ER". We got there and the dr. looked at my hand and got SO super pissed. He was fuming "what kind of dr. sews up a person without taking x-rays first?!" and "I wonder if she really IS a doctor" he ranted for a while more and then he asked me her name (I think he wanted to check to see if she really WAS a dr LOL). I was brought into a room after the dr. took me from the xray room and the nurse set my hand is this pan of brown goo. It didn't hurt or anything, it kind of looked like muddy water. About 10 minutes later, she comes back with this pumice stone, takes my hand and starts SCRUBBING my palm as hard as she possibly could, and I didn't feel a thing. After she cleaned out all the dirt and crust the other dr. left in there, I got sewed up again but I still didn't feel anything (and it had been at least 45 minutes now). I don't know what was in that brown goo but it was lovely. I eventually needed to have surgery on the hand to remove scar tissue because it didn't heal properly. So while it may be a good place for you (probably due to your location) but certainly not here. (sorry for the book LOL)

I think it probably a flushing thing, maybe I just need a lesser dose of it.

That was certainly a terrible experience and IMO borders on medical malpractice.

You might consider sending your story to American Medical Foundation for Peer Review
and be sure to include all pertinent information about your visit to the emergency room:
    • location
    • date and time of visit
    • primary physician and assistants

I don't know if that organization typically accepts input from the general public, but I'm pretty sure that they would be interested.

Well, all I know from my own experience, is that at one point I had to take a very large amount of vitamins, amino acids, etc, for a medical condition, (bone marrow/blood related). Anyway, I started getting weird flushes, (still do on occasion). Main areas affected were face/forehead area. Medical investigations turned out that the Vit. B12 was the culprit. Not a harmful condition but unsightly and uncomfortable. I had what looked like hives breaking out as well.
Then again, as said, could be an allergy or some such. I used 'Telfast' antihistamines (http://www.telfast.com.au/antihistamines/) for a while, but they sent my blood pressure sky high, so no more of them for me.:(
I used to take those Gummy Bear vitamins as well. They were fine, except I had a tendency to eat them unnecessarily, because they tasted a bit too nice. LOL

Yep, Vit B group and C are water soluble, and thus excreted, but significant amounts are stored in the liver as well as being present in blood plasma levels for 12-24hrs.

But, with the 'rash'/heat type syndromes, I was thinking of more along these lines:-

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B6

B6, and to a lesser extent other B vitamins do act as a co-enzyme for histamine production, is all I was saying.

That article also notes that it is involved with neurotransmitter synthesis and specifically three that
are believed to be linked to clinical depression, anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Yea, I really think now this flushing thing has to do with the vits. I had stopped taking them on Friday and I didn't flush at all this weekend. However, when I woke up this morning I started to feel the same fatigue I felt before I started taking them. So I'm pretty certain now the fatigue and the flushing are both related to the vitamins.

This would explain a lot. I'm quite OCD when to comes to certain things. :-D

All right, you asked for it but I can't be held responsible for any nightmares you may have from exposure to my scary face. LOL

The first pic is from the very first time it happened(I think it was Tues) , the second I took on Friday morning, when I'd stopped taking them.

Wow look at those ear-rings :p.

Perhaps the heat on one side of your face affects your metabolism or the medication you've taken, e.g., you sleep on your right side, or your window and exposure to sunlight is from the right or maybe your room heating is from your right? Or could it be that ear-ring rubbing on your right cheeks? :-D :duck

Hopefully, your doctor will make an assessment of your condition (may even want to take a blood sample) and make recommendations.

@ Maxwell, Don't hate on the earrings :p

I'm not really sure what my problem is :-D I am leaning toward Anemia because I had it when I was younger and from what I understand, it doesn't really go away.

I'll let you guys know what he tells me my deal is, hopefully something easy.

    Awww, thanks guys... http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy290/lotzasmilies/blush2-1.gif

I have been looking for a new pair of sneakers. I found a pair I really, really liked, the last one in my size, and I bought them. I got home and tried them on, they were WAY too big. So totally not my size despite being labeled as so. I took them back but they didn't have a smaller size that would fit me so I just had to return them. :cry

So maybe I am still in mourning over them. LOL

I hope you are feeling a bit better and your ailment is getting better.
I am surprised that it takes so long to get a doctors appointment (10 days WOW) in the US you could die waiting to see him/her.
Our health system was supposedly modeled on the US and normally we can get to see the doctor the same day we phone we can also get to see a specialist surgeon, dermatologist,or heart specialist in less than 10 days.
Hopefully it is nothing to worry about and as others have said you still look very attractive.
