Hello- I just got a BSOD and have never got one before. Sorry, I didn't right the sequence # down. I then ran a boot scan with my avast! Internet Security 2012 and it found 4 viruses. When given the option, I dumped them into the chest.
I have no idea how I got them and am wondering if I handled them in the right way. Please help.
    Thanks!

Without seeing any logs or knowing what the BSOD was about, its impossible to say.

Thanks, TimW... I agree!... Like I said, I should have taken notes from the BSOD- and it wasn't even the 'quick flash' variant. The only thing I can do is post the 4 files that avast! found, and that we put in the virus chest. Since I have quarantined these files in the chest, all seems well. :confused
    See Attachment?...
    Thanks-

Looks like Avast is doing its job. Unless you have other issues, I would assume you to be fine. ;)

Well, yes, for the most part avast! does a great job for me. Usually, if I wander upon a clandestine area I get a 'malware blocked' pop up and that's it. But this last time avast! didn't detect this attack (4 files). Like I mentioned earlier, nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I opened another blank tab in Chrome, and bingo!, the BSOD hit. Normally, when I do a weekly full scan PUP is turned on. I just decided to do a boot scan this time and moved the 4 items detected into the chest. I'm wondering if I should've just deleted them instead.
I have no idea where I picked this infection up at.
Thanks for your expert help, TimW! :)

You are safe to leave them in the chest. It won't hurt anything if they are there. ;) A PUP is just a "possibly unwanted program". So not much to worry about.

Yeah, I know, but those 4 items are what triggered the BSOD.
    Thanks for your input, TimW
