I have a peculiar problem in that i scan and E - mail lot of documents that come to me so that my daughter in Hong kong can see them .The problem is that recently when i scan the document the scan and the e mail system work perfectly but it then inserts the scanned image into document instead of attaching it as a file . This is really annoying as i like the first method as i also put a lot of text into the email .The printer software has not changed just the way that Live mail attaches it to e mail ie inserts instead of attaches .I can manually save a scan and then attach it as usual but its a long and tedious way of doing things if i have several documents to do .Is there a way on Livemail just to attach a document and not insert .many thanks for anybodys help ,

    regards,

    Peter

Well, not really sure on this one BUT I wonder if you checked attachment settings? Also, are you scanning and adding to email directly? If so, maybe you can save the file into images and then attach it.

Finally, the worst answer ever because it is not a direct answer to your question yet is is a better solution:

I stopped using Live Mail 6 months ago. It started with needing an account to use it before I even started and got worse with the typical Microsoft move of offering a free program that simply is one of the worst including attachments. In other words, I went to Thunderbird Portable. Again, not perfect but so easy to use and to back it up you simply drag the folder to another drive or even a thumb drive and take it with you.

Another great option is that you can download this, extract it and try it out. If you don't like it, delete the folder. If you are emailing a lot and your email program isn't cutting it, then this is where you want to go.

Live mail isnt perfect but i run 8 different e mail systems and it seems to cope with most , much more useable than outlook.I have looked on Livemail and cannot find an option for attachment settings , any idea where they are

    thanks

I gave you the best answer because I can't find anything on your problem :) Actually, Outlook Express was so much easier. Not being able to find the option, if they exist, is one more reason.

I am confused why you do a LOT of emailing yet are happy dealing with the default email program. Just because it is there? You can have Thunderbird up and running in 2 minutes. If I do any one thing repeatedly (and I do) then I look for the best tool to make use of my time :)

Your scanner output is going directly to a new email message window, right? Have you tried having your scanner send the output to a file and then attaching that file? Can you attach photos saved on your hard drive?

What printer/scanner (make and model) and software are you using?

Edit: Oops, I see Major Attitude already covered these points (in my first paragraph) in his first reply to you. But, you did not answer those questions. What is your answer?
