Adding older graphics card to new computer so as to be able to use HDMI output?

    Hi guys,

Recently bought my gf an HP Pavilion p7-1240 Desktop with Radeon HD 7660 integrated graphics. Here's the specs on that:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...portFAQ&prodSeriesId=5187022&prodTypeId=12454

So she's kinda bummed that she can't use an HDMI cable for her Full HD monitor, because the computer doesn't have HDMI output.

Well I have an OEM ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card that came out of a rig that I bought about three years ago that does have HDMI output.
    Here's the specs on that:

I was wondering if there would be any bad effects from installing that card so that she could go HDMI on her monitor; such as any negative effects on her graphics for her gaming (she's not 'hard-core'), or will it lower her Windows Experience Index?

Will appreciate any input you can give me.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Rikky.
I didn't even know such an adapter was available.

Now would the graphics card shut down the integrated graphics?
... and if it does, would there be a decrease in her gaming performance just for the sake of gaining an HDMI output?

What would be better to do:
    - Leave the integrated graphics like it is and get a DVI -> HDMI adapter?
    - Or just add the older card with the HDMI output?

    Thank again.

Both are solutions what's easier is up to you and her, neither is terribly complex do you want to spend $2 or give her your video card and install it right now:confused

The video card will automatically shutdown the onboard video, her gaming performance will improve because ATM she is using onboard video which has terrible performance.

To compare the performance go here compare scores.

It looks as though that video card is really slow 248 points in passmark, I'm struggling to find an integrated version of the Radeon 7660 but the mobile version which I'm assuming is the same scores 854 so your looking at more than 2/3 performance decrease which would be terrible.

The adapter is the way to go.
