Oh, when you have the governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, rocking the track suit and slamming the mayor of Atlantic city, it's better than porn. :roflmao

I actually think what he said made a lot of sense.

    It was great.

It's about time someone called the people who ignore the experts what they are....idiots. It actually pisses me off that they stay, need rescuing and then the emergency response people have to risk their lives to go in and save these people.

The fact that a mayor of a city actually said it was okay is criminal.

Oh ok. I thought you were laughing at what he said. Maybe you were just laughing at what he was wearing :-D (To be honest, I'd rock tract suits if I could, they are comfyyyy!! lol)

Yea, that was just awful :(

My favorite fake one is this. :-D

Yeah this one is pretty nasty, apparently it's going to merge with the storm hanging over southern Ontario, I doubt we'll get it that bad, too far from the sea although Lake Erie is only 200 yards from me, apparently Lake Huron has 20ft waves crashing on the beach!
For those of you who wonder how serious that is, it's about the size of your 2 story house.
We are being warned if Toronto loses power then most of Southern Ontario will lose it too for 2-4 days... yay.

Laura and those one the East coast US and Canada, I wish you all a safe journey through this one.

I see New York is being hit pretty hard, the streets are empty!

I hate to say it but I'm excited, I grew up on the east coast of England, quite literally on the coast, meaning 100 yards from the high tide mark and lost a few windows and such to wind and a bit of flooding, I've been here 7 years now and being so far inland (even though Lake Erie is bigger than the English channel :-D ) we don't get really good storms and Tornado's always miss us.

@Laura... see, you're far from the only one :-D

Will give you two smiley faces if you can guess what the one sticker on my car says. :-D

"The Ancient Greek phrase μολὼν λαβέ (molṑn labé; reconstructed Ancient Greek pronunciation [mo'lɔːn la'be]; Modern Greek pronunciation [moˈlon laˈve]) means "Come and take them". It is a classical expression of defiance reportedly spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army's demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae. It is an exemplary use of a laconic phrase."

And no, it ain't all that, just 2 words.
    :-D

How'd you fair last night Laura? Any damage from the wind and rain over your way?
We got some trees and lines down. Lost a few shingles off our roof too.

  22. LauraR

LauraR MajorGeeks Super-Duper Administrator Staff Member

We fared pretty well, Spock...just a leak that sprung in our basement wall, but my husband managed to stop it for the most part and we didn't get any damage from it. We'll get it fixed in a few weeks when we know we won't get ripped off by the companies that do that sort of work.

Sounds like you got through without too much damage. That's good. :)

I'm not sure how my parents' seashore house is. Its a vacation home, so they don't know yet either. I'm sure they'll be driving down there in a few days.

My first thought before I read it's only 2 words was... "Guns don't kill people, I do, when they get in my way" :-D

Hmmm, knowing you, that could be 2 words of many.

I'll give it a shot... (no pun intended)

    2 words huh...

    "Lock n Load"?

    "Take Aim"?

    "Bring it..."?

    "Lans n Grooves"?

    "Bacon Rules"?

    "Boom! Headshot"?

    "Stand Fast"?

    "Oscar Mike"?

    "Cover, Reloading"?

    "Full Metal"?

    "Turn n Run"?

Or I suppose since you gave a Greek reference it could be something more along the lines of...

    "This is...."?

    "Free Greeks"?

    "Earth n Water"?

That's all I can think of right now :-D
Am I even close? .... You could make this into a competition :cool

I'm glad to hear you've fared well, Laura. I saw some pictures of Sandy's damage in different parts of the east coast and it was pretty bad. I hope your parents place is doing ok as well. *fingers crossed*

Good to hear that Laura and Spock weren't too badly affected by the storm :celebrate I was expecting the worst as news feeds over here have been focusing on damage in NYC and NJ and the damage looks pretty bad :(

Here is a link to our local paper and the pics Australia has been getting

Laura's folks holiday house may not have fared so well though :( our news has been saying anything near the coast has been seriously affected :(
Good luck for your parents Laura :)
Best wishes to anyone else affected:)
    Cheers

I just now saw the damage from Sandy. I'm blown away.
That's the kind of damage I would expect to see from southern states getting hit.
Looks like a long cleanup. I think a lot of the sand came from the temporary dikes they built.

Well, at this point I have to say PDA Net is a wonderful program. Without it, a generator, and my trusty old as the hills laptop (P4M Centrino, 1GB RAM, WinXP Pro/Win8) this would not be possible.

We have been without power, and cable for almost five days now, and it looks like it will be at least three or four more until we are back up.

Good luck to all you folks struggling out there, and remember to keep a cool head.

WTF that dude with the horse head and wearing only shorts roflmao
good find but I'm sure there will be many more compilations out soon ;)

@the mekanic good luck and if you have a small UPS handy charge it up off the generator while you use the generator and the laptop so that the next time the laptop has a flat battery just use the UPS instead of the generator to save some fuel ;)
I hope things get back to normal soon best wishes :)

Yeah I only ride during disasters. I like to blast past people fearing for their lives while I'm having a great time.

This time was especially fun because I helped cheer up the people I met by reminding them they don't have to worry about the economy or paying bills because their house was gone.:)

I'm like a glass of sunshine that cuts through bitterness:cool

Have generator, and UPS. Not using desktop because we are conserving gasoline. It is available, but waiting a :*** hour or more to get the stuff is less than appealing. I even stretched ten gallons, with a bottle of 151 that had been laying around from a summer get together. We also have methanol that we use for anti-freeze in the winter as a last resort if necessary to (VERY CAREFULLY) stretch the gasoline a bit, as it is it's already at least 10% out of the pump.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

May I also extend best wishes for a speedy recovery of power and essential services to all those in the N.E. affected by Sandy. I hope that you get back to relative normality soon, people. I know that I really HATE it when the power goes out, even for just a few hours. ~ God speed, all.
