Can't read CD/DVD on disk drive

I can't read a disk (in this case a CD) from my CD/DVD drive. I have a Dell PC using Vista.
The drive was working fine then suddenly would read music track listing, begin a Rip operation the stall at 10% of first track. I started over several times with mixed results. Sometimes it wouldn't read anything, sometimes the track listing and sometimes begin to Rip then stop.
Microsoft Explorer also cannot read the CD on the drive.
Any ideas?

Thanks for advice falconattack.
I tried the link but one of the early steps was to select what kind disk drive I had (removeable or other). Mine is non-removeable so I chose 'other'. The solution offered did not fix my problem.
Any other ideas?
