    Hi there, this is gone be one of the weirdest things I ever encounter, I have some bookmarks on the desktops and in my favorites when I click upon them I get a web page with nothing on it in other words nothing on the address bar nothing on the body and nothing is loading. Then I have other bookmarks that bring up the actual page. I searched the Internet for a solution and I went through the IE fix, from Microsoft, I reinstall the Dlls, and nothing changed. I am using windows 7 and IE9 I do appreciate your assistance Thank you

    It's a permissions issue. Has this system been upgraded to 7 or was 7 a clean install? Or is there a dual boot in place - if so with what?

    ======================

    This was a clean installing to new embty HD and no dual boot.
    The OS was installed 2 months ago and this problem start it 5 days ago.
    For example if I minimize this single page that I am working on and I click on a link this page comes up again and nothing no new tab and no new page from the link.
    I did one thing though their were three sets of favorites one in the documents one in C:/users/user/favorites and one on the IE9 so what I did instead of sync the folders I delete it the one in C:/users/user/favorites and copy the ones from the C:/users/user/documents/favorites and the problem start it right after? I thing not sure though.

    Follow up

    Here is a pic of the page, but what is strange is that not all links react the same.

    If I'm understanding you correctly you have deleted the folder C:\Users\YourUsername\Favorites, which is one of the folders that make up your user profile and is needed for proper functioning of both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

    Can you show me a screenshot please of the output from Start > YourUsername. I need to understand if my assumption is correct.

    I did replace the favorites with files from my back up documents.
    Is that the shot you looking for?

    Well the good news is your folder still exists. If you open it and right click one of the files which you know does not work correctly and click Properties, does it contain the URL (the http address) or is that field blank?

    Yes the URLs show correctly

    Little more detail;

    The links on the emails do work
    The links on the browsers favorites do work
    Some desktop icons do work
    The links inside the folders/files don't work if a page is open the URLs/links do nothing if their no pages open the URLs/links do bring up a blank page like the pic on a earlier post.

    Right click one of the links that doesn't work > Properties > Security tab. Is your username listed under Group or User names?

    I'm stumped. IE's favorites are those in that folder - Start > YourUsername > Favorites, yet you say they work in the browser but not from the file? If so I can only suggest you delete and recreate those that don't work, unless someone else has suggestions.

    Well that is what I did I deleted the folder and then copy/paste the browser links work but the folder links don't work, so what i did to test see img below I pout the folders side by side and non of the links work.

    OK, if this problem started just a few days ago see if you have a restore point available that predates your deleting the folder. System Restore is available on your Start Menu > Accessories > System Tools.

    I'm not hopeful it will correct this problem but is all I can suggest.

    The system restore worked........... thank you
    I don't know what was removed I guess will find out later, the system restore dialog said nothing was changed on my document.

    Thanks again for your help......mike

    Where I work, there is a database system I (and many others) use via Internet Explorer. The URL to this system earlier this year was changing. The person that overlooks the database made this comment regarding bookmarks/favorites:

    "It should be noted that you cannot update your properties of existing bookmarks -- you will need to delete your old and create a new one. Bookmarks store underlying properties of the system they were created with so I know that there will be issues if people try to update properties instead of just creating a new bookmark."

    Though you've done a system restore, if you run across the problem again, apply this comment and see if it will make a difference.
