I got a tutoring job and need to upload my picture to my profile on the tutoring site. A friend of mine took a digital photo of me and sent it to me by email. Can someone please give some simple instructions on how I can upload a picture to an online site?

    Thanks.

There are several sites that host pictures and give you a URL to plugin to a website, or blog.

    http://tinypic.com/ is one

Click the Browse button to navigate to the pic, select file type, click upload now.
    Answer the captcha.

You will be presented with several URLs to use depending on where you will be putting it.

I can open the picture I want to give a url to and I went to the tinyurl site. But I don't know how to "select" the photo. When I click on upload now I get the message "Please select the file to upload". That's the part I don't know how to do. THANKS.

The picture I want to upload to the image shack or tinyurl site was sent to me in an email. How do I select this photo to upload to either of those sites?

Or, in other words, I have many folders with pictures and I think I know how to select a photo from one of those sites just by clicking on it, but the photo in my email is not in any folder so I don't know how to select it.

    THANKS

You need to download or save the photo from mail to your hard drive. What is your mail client? You may be able to right click the image and select "save image to" or something similar. then just navigate to the folder you want it in and click.

Tranfer the photo to a folder on your desktop.

Right click anywhere on your desktop (without your browser being open)and from the menu select "NEW" then from the menu select "FOLDER" this will create a folder on your desktop, you can name it whatever you want to.

Then open the e-mail photo and copy it to the new folder you will then be able using the "Browse" function in imageshack to locate it and upload it.

I was able to successfully upload the image to imageshack, but now I can't figure out how to upload it from image shack to the tutoring site for my profile there.

When you have uploaded the photo you are presented with a menu of options (see photo) just select the one you need and copy and past to your forum.

I see the menu but I don't know which option to choose and how to proceed after making a selection. This is what it looks like on the tutoring profile page where I am trying to upload my photo:

    No Image uploaded yet!
Select a new image to upload
    ( optimum size: 140px x 200px)
    [ ][browse]

Sorry for all the silly questions but I am severely computer challenged.

All you need to do is copy the one of the options (not sure which you need for your particular forum) and paste it to your page then when the page opens it should be the photo.

I am using the one that is highlighted.

And this is how it comes out when the page is opened.

I tried copying all five options(I selected the option, edit, and then copy)but none of them could be pasted into the space on the tutoring company's profile.

Go to the imageshack site and first select Direct Link. Highlight what is in the box aside of that and hold down the ctrl key while pressing C. This copies the link to the clipboard.
Next go to the tutoring site. Click on upload and put the mouse cursor in the box. Hold down the ctrl key while pressing V. This pastes the link of the image into the tutoring site so it can grab it and upload it. (You are probably thinking that P should be used for paste BUT ctrl and P is used to print something so that's why another letter had to be chosen to paste something).
