How do i ensure sound speaker is on when pc boots?
I have latest drivers etc., its just that I have to manually switch my speaker on after boot-up.
Or will I always have to do this?

Are you talking external speakers? If so how are they turned on?

If they have a manual power switch you must physically press then there's no way to make them turn on when your computer turns on, you could disable standby if your speaker/amplifier allows it though but it's a waste of power, I have a SONY 5.1 surround sound system and I still turn my speakers on with the remote whenever I turn my computer on, it will just not wake from standby via the fibre optic input but wakes perfectly via the hdmi.

If you mean turn on by software could you specify where you turn them on, device manager, volume controls, sound card control panel? Post your operating system also, same as your sig?

Yes, external speakers.....I thought that they used to come with older my PCs / op systems (now using win7 as per sig), and now they do occasionaly (i think), but for the majority of the time I have to press the manual power switch.....I just think in this day and age this wpould be automated.

It really depends on the amplifier used with the speakers, if part if it's specification is to wake from standby via an input then it will but there's no signal from the audio output cable "Green" on the sound card to a sound system that turns in on, a system simply would simple detect and audio stream and turn on.

If we're talking simple, cheap stereo speakers then in my experience none of them turn on when they detect an audio input, to do this they need a standby mode if they don't have a standby mode then it's impossible as that's the only way they could wake.

I have 4-5 speaker systems I've acquired over the years and none of them have a standby mode, just a simple on off switch.

Could you post the model of your speakers and/or amp?
