My current hd has faults,my computer on XP was shutting down,I did a reinstall after trying a check disc,,but now the sound is not working.although the computer has stopped shutting down.
I re installed also all the sound devices, thought that could have been the problem still no sound?
Could the no sound be my speaker plug is not working? and how to rectify?

    you have to select
    Report from bar menu
    from sub menu
Quick Report - Plain Text - opting for Desktop as saving location

    follow this

    You should navigate here

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=939NF4G-VSTA&o=XP

opting for second driver Realtek high definition audio driver ver:R1.36 , you must save it , afterwards go to saving location path

    C:\Documents and Settings\Name\My Documents\Downloads

running the zip file , when the process is finished you must restart your machine :wave

    Hi,
I tried that link,my adio is set to Auto already, but saw my bottom ribbon inside my computer is unconnected?I thought that went to a floppy disc, would that be connected to the sound card?
The top ribbon is connected to mt HD.

I just checked that ribbon and it appears it is for the floppy.
My sound card is not separate and that bottom ribbon,I think is to the floppy, the other to the dvd.
I am having trouble installing sp3,always have this problem, tried slipping it into my xp installation many times but failed.

Maybe your speakers is faulty , you should try another one if you have , do you have xp cd ? If yes you must repair your machine , what is your antivirus ? :wave

What could be stopping the sound?

    Hi,
no,I tested other speakers, its not that.
I bought another Hard drive and the speakers still not working:cry could it be the plugs at the back, some driver?none of the drivers have the question mark.
What could be stopping the sound?yet on bluetooth the sound works :)
That third and bottom ribbon would be for a floppy right?,the middle one for the HD and the top ribbon for the DVD,something must be disconnected?

I rest my case, after buying another hard drive, this is most annoying and strange thing, that it appears NOBODY can help me with.
I am going to have to buy another computer, this one has beaten me right down & now completly drained me :tired

    Solution................

Hi my friend , maybe your audio port is faulty i think , try a different audio card if you have another one ( difficult ) :-o
