Publisher 98

Trying to find a downloadable copy of Publisher 98 cause my CD is corrupted!

 

I try to find even a newer version of that (v8 or 9) or the last "suite" and I could not; instead everything directs to MS Office, where that comes included now. You will find that, but you have to pay for.

 

Thanks so much for the reply Chapincito. The problem is that I have a lot of pub files that were created on Pub98 and they will not open on newer versions of pub. After having to format C, my pub98 CD no longer worked so I'm using Pub2003 now cause I only have a copy of Pub97. Could never figure out why you cant open pub files from one version to the other. It's hard to believe that I am unable to download from somewhere on the worldwide net a copy of Pub98! I could go to a hacker site, but I would still have to pay to download the program!

 

Thanks for your reply Laura. I wasn't serious about going to a hacker site cause I used one to download a program before and that's why I ended up having to formatC!!!!

Thanks for your reply Solaris89. For some reason the convertor kept failing to convert the pub98 file and give me the option to download? Kept telling me to try again. Sounds like a great idea if I can figure out what the problem is.

 

Libre Office (LO) sez they have an import filter for Microsoft Publisher publications. LO is free, so it is worth a try. If you can open the Pub 98 files, save them in another format so as not to lose the data...

Hi Cipher! The Libre program is very big for me cause I only have dialup internet; would take a whole day to download it! I was thinking maybe somebody on here has got a CD of pub98 and would make a copy for me and mail it to me; what do you think?

 

I think that's not gonna happen. For several reasons, not the least of which is the illegality of it. And it would be less than wise to let anyone on the net know your mailing address...

Find a friend with broadband, have them DL it for you, move it to CD, take it home, load it.

 

Thank you Cipher for the very good advice; I will not go that route! Maybe one of my friends here where I live has a Pub98 CD? I will email them all to find out. Thanks again, I do appreciate the good advice you shared with me!

 

Just remember the advice you got here did not involve intellectual property infringement. To be clear, I meant having a friend download Libre Office for you.
