Toshiba Equium sound

Hi all.

I have just reinstalled xp on a Toshiba Equium A100-027 and all is good...except I cannot get the sound going.

I have tried several sites and they all get to a point and then failure with error code.

I know its sone realtek audio bus and Driver Genius has also done the same thing...

Any ideas much appreciated.

At the bottom of the laptop there is a sticker like this

There is no sticker like that but the exact model is...A100-027

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!!

Looking on other sites and I am leaning towards device manager
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus having the yellow mark an I cant seem to fix that!

You stated that you reinstalled Windows XP - have you installed Service Packs #2 and #3? You must have those service packs installed in order to make use of the High Definition audio.

Start - Run type this mmc devmgmt.msc - Ok - right click to yellow device - Properties - Details - scroll down the arrow finding Hardware ids - there is a code in the box , we need it ( select all - copy - paste ) the code here

Looks like it's a Realtek chip, and I guess you could browse the Realtek site to try to find something - but I fail to see why that would work but the Toshiba software won't...

If this was my machine I'd uninstall everything audio related, run Driver Sweeper and start from scratch. If you do decide to use the Sweeper make sure to opt out of any search engine/toolbar offers.

 

Are you typing the mmc devmgmt.msc and doesn't run ? :wave
