Hello, I have been having a problem. I'm not too sure if its with my laptop (HP Pavillion Dv6t-6100 running Windows 7 64-bit) or my router (netgear n600) or even could be my ISP?(at&t). Around the same time every day (about 4-6pm) my laptop will disconnect from the internet. It will go from searching for an internet connection, to connected but no access, then not connected. It will keep going through that cycle for hours. It usually will not have a stable connection until the next day. All other devices connected to the router are able to connect but have a fairly slow connection. I'm wondering if At&t is possibly throttling my internet?

I updated my networking driver a few days ago and it still has the same problem. I dont think it could be a laptop issue since its only a litle over a year old. I have antivirus software on it and I never get virus notifications from it.

Im pretty counfused as to what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated.

    It could be several things.

If no one else on the network is experiencing the problem, it is likely not your ISP or your router. Although, I would make sure my router has the latest firmware.

I believe the N600 router is a dual band router with a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Whatever band you are connected to (generally different SSID's) try connecting to the other band and see if your symptoms change. If this does not make things better, move your laptop closer to the router and run it that way for a day or so and see what results you get.

Thanks for the reply. Next time it happens I will try moving to a different band.

Last night as it went out me, it happened right as both my dad and sister began to use their computers. Later that night when they both went to bed I was able to connect just fine. Could this be a bandwidth problem?

Not likely, but do any of the machines get an "IP address conflict" message???

No one has gotten an IP address conflict. I made sure that would never happen by making sure every device has a static IP set.

When you are experiencing the problem have you tried moving closer to the router with your laptop? Are you getting good wi-fi signal strength?

If yes and you are still having the problem, ping your router's IP address, ping each of the other machines on your network and then ping 108.175.7.71 and post the results.
