My daughter tests for her green belt Saturday.

Good thing we practiced, and didn't wait for the world to end!

I think she is more nervous than I am

I am just nervous that she will get carried away and strike her opponent during demonstration of her one-steps. Pretty sure that counts as an auto-fail.

It was nerve-wracking because they also tested her on stuff I didn't know about, including throws, and weapons like nunchucks.

Not bad, considering she skipped an ENTIRE rank.

roflmao Excellent! :-D My nephew just turned 13 and has been in karate for about four years. Darned if I can remember right now if he's brown with a white stripe or green with a white stripe. Or maybe I've got that all wrong. I'll have to ask when I see him tomorrow.

It goes white > white w/ stripe > yellow > yellow w/ stripe > green.


Normally a year's journey. I train her outside of class though so she skipped a rank and went yellow to green because she is so advanced.

ahhhh, ok, back when I was doing it I don't remember the stripes but I do remember yellow since you mentioned it. (It was a LONG time ago)

 

I actually remembered to ask my nephew! He's brown w/stripe. And apparently I was misinformed on progression, as his next one is first level black. He rolled his eyes at me and told me I really have to come to his next local tournament. LOL
