Well as thread title is what music do you like and how much do you have, mine is mixed and sample image is below, but with 400 artists and 860+ albums and counting I have a good collection.

Xbox Music at £90 a year is neat for getting all you need, none of that iToons per album cak.

Image is from Zune as I prefer it over iTunes 100000% oh that will annoy the apple fanbois and msft haters ;):p

I have a 1.5M wide 6 drawer high card filing cabinet with about 1500 original CDs and these have all been ripped to flac for my music server;)
The music server has all together over 2300 flac albums totaling over 3000 CDs. Most of my stuff is from the seventies up to current artists and covering most contemporary genres:cool
The only things I don't have are opera or chamber music as I don't like either:(
I do have quite a bit of stuff from the sixties too but it is not a priority and when I see secondhand CDs in good condition I buy them:)

I also have about 750 vinyl records and a Rega Planar type III turntable with Ortofon MC cartridge but now with the laziness of the server it doesn't get much use ;)

We play the flacs and 1280p movies and all emulated console games through XBMC at several locations around the house. The network is running through a 24 port HP Procurve managed switch with double 1Gb port stacking to each location giving effectively almost 2Gb/s throughput which is adequate for lag free gaming and movie watching ;) Each PC has a 24bit ASUS Xonar sound card with Burr Brown DACs so sound quality is excellent :)

If you want a text file list of my albums then pm me rolleyes

I have a relatively small digital music collection, because I honestly don't like how it sounds and I would far rather own an actual album (CD, whatever...I'm old). Easily 90% of my digital collection is music I own on CD but wanted to transfer to my iPod for road trips. My digital music collection measures around 5.5GB. My CD collection numbers around 450, my cassette collection (many of which are not available on CD or digitally) is probably about 300, and my album collection is right around 150.

As for type...I'm all over the map. Primarily classical, classic rock, 80's rock and pop, a bunch of blues, some Big Band/Swing, a fair bit of folk, some somewhat obscure modern bands, and quite a bit of local/regional bands (I run into a lot of them as openers for national acts or when I'm out).

I have several hundred CDs and about 5,000 music downloads dating back to the original Napster (although now I'm a good boy and buy them off Amazon).

My actual on-system collection is rather small since I mainly use streaming services like Pandora or Spotify for my music listening. What I listen to varies, from soft jazz to heavy metal, to Japanese pop, to classical music. Metal dominates though... particularly metal with lots of heavy guitar. :)

To give you a inkling of what I listen to most of the time though, here are my current Pandora stations. :guitar

Anyone who knows me knows that I really prefer the sweet sound of silence LOL but when the mood strikes, this is what I jam too. It's not a lot but it quite varying.

I use Zune too, not the biggest fan of it though.

    @Mimsy
Your Pandora link works fine for me and you listen to similar stuff to me except I also listen to quite a bit of blues :-D
The stations Classic guitars, Soothing and slow and Quirky and quaint sound great and I will listen to a few more tomorrow while I am alone at work. Thanks :wave
    Good one :highfive

If you listen at work, I recommend earphones or headphones or something else that blocks people around you from hearing. I've told Pandora not to censor explicit content, since I think it's more offensive to hack out pieces of a song than to listen to it just the way the person writing the song intended it to be, crude language or not. That unfortunately also means that several of my stations are not entirely work-appropriate.

Enjoy. Music wants to be shared. :)

Thanks for the heads up Mimsy and yes there was some really good content today but I was alone installing a new server and so I had it pumping :-D When the others come back next week I will definitely listen through earphones as there is plenty of NSFW language.
I hadn't heard of Pandora before your link so thanks again :wave

@Dya, strangely I prefer Zune or now as they are re-branding it Xbox Music to iTunes, awful bit of software, just a pity a great OS clone of iTunes "Songbird" didn't work with my iPhone or iPod Touch or I would have likely used that.

Yeah I kinda missed out my 300CDs and 400 Vinyls as I have not ripped all of them yet, only 100CDs so far and non of the vinyls as I don't have one of those digital vinyl rippers yet.
