Hi just last week I keep getting an error message when I shut down my computer that reads (The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANEL to debug the program) I have tried goggling it but found nothing that states a fix, I have a Dell windows 7 64bit, thank you.

Ok thanks, downloaded it and opened bluescreen but nothing showed up, unless I forgot to do something.

That's not a blue screen, just a program error.

Does that pop up have a program name on its top?

If not, can you check the Event Viewer if it contains anything about that program error?

If there is nothing in the BSV then there are no BSOD it is most likely a software issue.

Driver out of date or some thing you might have missed

Are you using CCleaner or another cleaner set to remove dump files by chance?

Watch out for the Cleaners...they don't care! :eek

    :confused

    Good morning...

Dump files are not saved by default with most Windows machines - you must instruct the system to do so. A quick tutorial for the process is located here.

Regardless, as pwillener stated previously the "0x00000000" is a program error - navigate to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer for details about the error message.

Thanks everyone, that error message comes up right when I shut down my computer, it happens no other time event viewer doesn't say anything about it, also I have CCleaner free advanced system care 6, paid malware bytes, and paid avast antivirus premium, thanks.

Try this: boot the machine into Safe Mode, then restart and see if you get the same error when transitioning from Safe Mode to Normal Mode.

Caliban...Thanks for the knowledge on minidumps not being saved automatically in most Windows systems. Something else I will forget right before I need it I am sure...

Ok I restarted my computer and the error message didn't show, then I tapped F8 to start in safe mode and after shut down my computer and error message didn't show, but error message in regular mode when I shut down still shows, this is a tricky one..........

Ok, so maybe a 3rd-party program is the culprit. Since you've got CCleaner loaded, run CCleaner > Tools > Startup. With the Windows tab selected click 'Save to text file...', name and save the file to an easily found location and attach that file so we can take a look at your startups.

Meanwhile, if you're feeling froggy (;)) you can peruse the list and disable any obviously unnecessary items - just be advised that some startups are very useful (antivirus, etc.) so use caution. Also, if you're disabling startups as a troubleshooting procedure you'll need to keep track of what's enabled/disabled during your test boots.

@ AtlBo: no problem - glad to help. If we all learn something every day, life becomes much more flavorful...;)

Meanwhile, falconattack requested your Dell Service Tag number back in post #9 - please try to provide that information.

Most of your list is unnecessary - you might try disabling everything except the following and run some boot tests. Process of elimination should clue you as to what's causing the problems.
