Alright I need some help. I was using my desktop yesterday, went to a parts supplier website that I use daily, and got hit with the FAKE FBI MONEYPAK VIRUS.

I am running XP PRO SP3 on a custom built Dell tower.

I have done as much of the READ & RUN ME FIRST as I can

Every time I try to enter safe mode I get the following Blue Screen message.
    Blue Screen says
Problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive make sure it is properly configured and terminated. CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
    Technical information:
    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7967524,0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000

I have almost full access to my computer unless I plug in my internet cable, then the FBI screen pops up, and completely locks me out of my computer.

I have tried system restore, will not work. I have tried to get into task manager will not open.

The only stuff I have on the computer right now are CCleaner, and HIJACK THIS.

Since I can’t access my internet I can’t download anything to remove this virus, but I do have a clean computer, and thumb drives to load anything that might help. Normally I would just do a reinstall and call it a day, but this is a custom built computer for my work, and there are a couple of programs that I can’t replace if I lose them.

Thanks in advance for the help.
    Andrew

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Download the tools from the below using another PC and copy to the problem PC, then run the procedure with your internet cable disconnected if that allows you to run programs.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

Attach the requested logs when finished.

Still have the same issues as before. If I attempt to connect to the internet the fake FBI virus pops up, and takes over my desktop.

I did not get a log from TDSKILLER it said
    280 objects No threats found

I will attach the MGlogs on a new thread.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run it by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7, or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Files
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\1.bmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\1.jpg
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ifgxpers.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\*.*
    C:\Documents and Settings\Valued User\Local Settings\Temp\*.*

    :Reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
    "Adobe ARM"=-
    [-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1708537768-1326574676-1801674531-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache\C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ifgxpers.exe]
    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I have followed your directions, but every time i click the move it button. OTM says not responding.

Okay then try the below instead.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.

See the download links under this icon http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/dll.gif
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Ok so the Regedit didn't work.
    The Avenger did
Then I ran the regedit, and it worked, for now I have my internet back.
But the OTM still never worked.
Below are the logs, how should I proceed now?
    Thanks, Andrew

Your logs are clean. Time for final instructions and to get your PC properly protected. Note that your PC could use an additional GB of memory at a minimum but I suggest that if you update it, that you bump it up to 3 GB from the 1 GB that you have.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Everything seems to be running fine after following your final instructions. I didn't know if you wanted to see the logs again or not. I will start the process of protecting my PC later today.
Thanks you so much for your help!

    You're welcome.
No! If you follow the final instructions you would not have RogueKiller, Hitman, TDSSkiller, or MGtools any more. Please follow the instructions again. All of them.
