why is Firefox starting 3 times?

    HI,
    Every time I try to use firefox recently it has been freezing up.
    So I rebooted and looked at the task manager (see image)
    an found that firefox.exe was in the list 3 times and it wasn't even running at the time...
    I rebooted again and gave the pc a little time to settle down so no activity was happening and again 3 occurrences of firefox where showing.
    ONLY when I close all 3 can i restart firefox from the icon.
    Can anyone suggest an answer to my problem ?

    Is there anything on startup that might be trying to launch a browser window? Maybe a program suggesting you update or register or opening a help file? If so, see if you can find a way to stop that happening.

    I've sometimes found programs attempting to gain internet access when Windows is being started up and before internet access is available can cause themselves or another program such as the browser to stop responding.

    Hi

    Firefox (Fx) may show 3 times as it depends on your default list of opening tabs (Webpage Windows), so do you have more than one page/tab opened defaultly when Fx is opened?

    try opening Fx in its Safe Mode and see if that works ok? if not then a full uninstall and re-install of latest Fx is advisable.

    Do backup your favourites and make note of any plugins and options you like to run with Fx.
