Has anyone of us ever wanted to redo their "online life"?

I wish I could, I started thinking about this about a year ago when I had come to the realization that I had two accounts for an online game, used one account for my actual game log in and the other for the forum, why didn't I realize that both log ins were different you may ask? Simply I never really thought about my logs since I had the forum save them for it. Then I started digging around old scraps of paper I have laying around and found email addresses that I had created to test some games, sign up for a reward site, other various emails I don't even remember making that I can't even access any more.
Now, some may ask why don't you just start over with the "correct" logs for that game? I had thought about that, seeing as all I'd loose is the time that I've put into that character, since I never put any of my real money towards it and I'd be on the same server with the "friends" I had made.

I'd really just like to tidy up. (There's my OCD kicking in):-D

    Hi Spock

Not really, I think for forum and www life or my persona then no as I think its a good thing to see warts and all, if I'm measured on my successes then great, think I have a few not only on this forum, but on Microsoft's websites, plus my actual work in which I have collaborated on published papers and abstracts.

If I'm buggered up or been wrong then that will show as well on forums in the main, but then I could learn from when I have gotten things wrong.

As for games those don't bother me as much and I don't use the online game chats or forums.

I keep one email address for signing up to what maybe a site that will use your email for junk, one for this forum and 3 for personal different things, work, personal and a PC account logon.

Sadly if you have postings on forums, then they are pretty permanent as the www is a waste bin for all the stuff posted.

No but I regret being less active before Oink went down :cry
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oink's_Pink_Palace
It was a great repository of all kinds of music including many rare CDs and LPs that are no longer available and were ripped to flac or any other lossless format. When I was first invited to join, I only had a crappy 56k dial up account at home and then when I finally got broadband in my area it came with a very small download limit so I mostly used the connection for work. :( I probably could have been more active on Oink for two years but was too caught up with long hours at work :( The boat has sailed and I missed it :cry

I now only have six email addresses and they are two anonymous ones rolleyes and two for work and two private ones :cool As I get older it makes things much easier to remember LOL I keep a spreadsheet with over 60 site logins and passwords plus the authenticating question and answer as well as about 20 email accounts that are no longer used or I can't remember why I had them :confused so yes Spock you do have to rationalise things and clear away the clutter and in a way it is deleting your past ;)

As I get older my new mantra is less is more ;)
Soon I hope to do everything with nothing LOL

Nope. Do an on-lie search for the Phantom and about all you get is my name-sake, (the comic-book guy), ghost stories, and a heap of Rolls-Royce ads and articles. roflmao.
Search for my real name, if you know it, and none of the hits are me.:p

It's never occurred to me to worry about my online life, to be honest. The screen name I use here is my secondary, but if you search my primary you come up with some ungodly number of posts from various websites I've worked for as well as a couple of cooking sites to which I contribute original recipes. I'm good with all of that. :)

Partially, yea, I do. I was kind of naive when I first started out on the internet. I got an email the other day from a website (similar to myspace) I joined many, many moons ago stating someone had "checked out my page". I had totally and completely forgotten about this site so I went back and saw I had posted all this info and numerous (horrible looking) pictures. After a quick password recovery, I deleted all the pictures, info and closed the account. :-D

I never use the same screen name, so I don't know how many more "sites" are floating around with my info on them. :confused

I feel the same, I wasn't as... I'll say professional when I first started my online identity, would really like to delete a few accounts various places, but can't.

I tend to, if I can use my screen name (Spock96) with all things, aside from game IDs, so if by chance you see my screen name from here floating around the internet, there's a 98-99% chance that it's me. I like uniformity.

I would have preferred to only use my other one (Felix4067), but a hundred years ago when I worked for a site that has since disappeared, it was frowned upon if we joined other tech sites, so I had to be incognito. Stupid internet politics. rolleyes

But I can guarantee if you see Felix4067 somewhere, that's me. Unless someone somehow randomly happened upon how I put it together, which is highly unlikely. More likely would be that someone was pretending to be me, but I honestly can't see why they would. LOL (I lied. There's a twitter feed in some other language that is decidedly NOT me. ;) )
