Hi again. I've had to re-install XP..... long story about printer, please don't ask!
Now my sound output is playing games. I've lost sound from the left channel satellite speaker (right channel and subwoofer O.K.). Tried another set of speakers and have the same result, so assume the speakers are O.K.? I have checked the Device Manager..Hardware.. and have no 'yellow' exclamation marks showing. I've run Windows Update for new driver versions, etc, but cannot see what to try next? :confused Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Did you use a different cable when you connected to the sound card? Yes, it is possible for a sound chip or sound card to go bad. Also check the settings in Playback devices, when you right click on the speaker icon, and check the balance setting, to make sure it is in the middle, not to the side that you only have playback coming out of.

Very hard to tell. You have done most of the things. Need to ask my computer repairing friend. Wait for my next reply.
