With Microsoft shutting down MSN Messenger and promoting Skype I've gotta say that after using it for a while there's a few things I really miss. Being able to share images easily was one, being able to send files was another. Skype doesn't do any of these and I really don't like the notification sounds (I'm sure that can be customized but why bother). My wife at work isn't allowed to install Yahoo Messenger, but Skype or MSN Messenger is OK. If she uses her personal laptop she can use whatever service she wants, so it's not that her firewall doesn't let it through, she just can't install on a work computer, and she doesn't feel like installing anything either.

Is there a portable messenger program that lets you transfer files or at least lets you show images?

Skype sends both files and pictures with no trouble, are you sure your not missing something? If i click send im, then conversation, then send, then file. It allows me to send files/photos and stuff.

Thanks, but that's always grayed out. I had just assumed that you needed to pay for that feature.
