lubuntu update trouble

Lubuntu 12.10
Im trying to install updates from the software updater, and i get the 'Not Enough free Disk Space" error, as shown in the attached jpg. I did sudo apt-get clean, I ran bleachbit as root, and I also used synaptic package manager to remove remnants of old installations. I still get the error, and I am able to install updates. I've got plenty of room left on this 1tb HD. What am I doing wrong? :confused

How to free up disk space

 

BOOOMs link is what you're looking for! You've done everything right so far, but I was also thinking "auto clean" and "auto remove". So pay attention to the very first posted suggestion in the forum.

Also, your screenshot references /BOOT as the directory looking for more space. I'm guessing you're multiple booting and/or have multiple kernels available in your boot screen menu. IMO, you should install Ubuntu Tweak and use Ubuntu Tweak to clean up the multiple boot entries that aren't used. Ubuntu Tweak is safer than command line removal referenced in that forum, and the last thing you want is to boot with a LiveCD to regenerate a broken GRUB config in a directory that is "too small" to begin with.

In a nutshell, "clean" then "auto clean" then "auto remove" then install Ubuntu Tweak, then clean up GRUB Menu/old kernels with Tweak. Then finish updating. You're almost there. BTW, kudos on the choice of an LXDE desktop, which I personally think is the "snappiest" of the lightweight desktops! Good luck!

 

Good advice, gentlemen. Worked like a charm, am now updated and Ubuntu Tweak seems to be a pretty useful tool. Thanks for the tips and your time!
