Pages loading slow when online game is open

I've never had this problem before so it is a little fishy for me to just believe simply because the game (league of legends) is running that the web pages are running slow. As soon as I close the game out web sites are back to normal speeds and I have no problems. Any suggestions? Tried 1000 suggestions nothing seems to work, first time I am posting that it is game related so hoping someone has a valid suggestion, thanks.

 

If you are using an online game then it will use your internet connection at variable rates. If you are in a busy area or a large battle then more information will be needed at your computer and thus your internet will be used more.

This may be coupled with the internet service in your local area becoming congested due to over-subscription (really common now). This congestion is really common at peak times.

Please tell us the speed you are supposed to be getting (both up and down), and run a speedtest (try speedtest.net) to see what you are actually getting. Then repeat the speedtest when you next notice the problem

 

Speeds when game is closed 22.78 Mbps down / 1.98 Mbps Up


Speeds when game open 22.35 Mbps down / 1.91 Mbps Up

no real difference. I was messing around with some router settings last night about prioritizing bandwidth I think it was called QoS or something but after changing some values everything is still the same. Its just weird that this just started happening out of the blue 1 day last week when ive been playing this game for a couple of years.

 

OK so the chances of it being your internet connection are practically 0.

Can you please open task manager (CTRL & SHIFT & ESC), go to the processes tab and the performance tab and report the processor and memory usage with the game open? We are looking for 100% (or close to) usage of one or both of these figures.

 

CPU Usange between 2-15%

PF Usage hovering around 890-900 MB

both of those figures are about 1/5th to 1/6th up from the bottom of the chart so not using much of either.

I don't know why but I have a feeling it has something to do with some of the wireless settings, you think maybe I should restore everything to factory default on the router?

Since the Internet bandwidth and computer usage are normal during you play the game, only suggestion I can give is to check if the online game is using more Internet bandwidth than it used before.

Have you seen any new additional improvement in game graphics or features ?

 

That's the next thing I was going to ask, and probably should have asked earlier.

To confirm: are you using wireless?

How far are you from the nearest wireless access point?

What is between the wireless access point and your computer? (Walls, fridges, etc)

If there are walls, what are they made of?

Do you have the option of wiring the laptop to the router? (at least to test it)

 

Online games are just deadly for your computers memory, found out more than once that my memory was being used +95% just because i had some lousy game or website open for already an hour or so. a lot of those online apps and games contain memory leaks, they are just a hit on your memory! i don't think theres much you can do about it except for closing and reopening your browser window again
