Virtual Machine Software

Im being lazy today so instead of searching google myself i thought i would jsut ask you guys :-D

I am in need of a good free virtual machine to install on a windows 8 computer so that i can have windows xp installed on that. i think i may be able to get by also if one had a 30 day trial. Actually if you could also name some good paid ones i may look into purchasing one.

Need some good answers before 4:00pm CST

Virtualbox is free. So is Qemu, but Virtualbox is what you want.

VMware Player is another good one: http://www.vmware.com/products/player/. VMware makes commercial, i.e. not free, software but VMware Player is a free product for non-commercial use.

 

Another vote here for VMware Player, idiot proof - errr not that I meant anything personal :-D

 

I vote for VMPLAYER as well.

 

You know, if you have Windows 8 Pro, you can use Hyper-V and not install additional software...

 

i dont think its pro but thanks ill keep that in mind for possible future needs.

A while back you couldn't create a VM, you could only download already created ones.

 

You can create any VM in VMware Player. All you need is the installation media
