I use Waterfox on my 64 bit machine, with Palemoon and Opera as backup browsers...

It's good to have at least two browsers, if your primary goes down, you have an easy way to browse for a fix or new copy to reinstall...

Another Pale Moon user here, usually the 64 bit version, great stability.

Firefox is my main browser but also use Pale Moon (as Fx's backup). Why the best for me? Versatility with hundreds-thousands extensions for Firefox and one can also use most Firefox's extensions for Pale Moon. Both offer forums for any questions or support. IE9 is collecting *dust* as the versatility is just not there. Might change my opinion when IE10 will be offered for Win 7. I tried Opera and Google Chrome but came back to the 2 that I mentioned above.

Just a heads up Oma as IE10 is available for Windows 7 now, download HERE (just find the English language version then in the dropdown choose 32bit or 64bit version, depending on which Windows 7 **bit you have)

Not personally tried IE10 in Windows 7 as I generally I'm using two PCs that are Windows 8 based, but I do have a Win7 PC spare.

I tend to use IE10 and Mozilla Nightly. Opera is a good browser also but I only really need one spare different browser as a backup.

Chrome undecided as I have it installed in work, but looking at the running processes its a bit high! two updater processes!

I generally use SRWare Iron as my main browser. Looks like Chrome and just as fast to me, and Firefox is my back up browser, although it gets a pretty good work out when I use it mainly for me e-mails. But I really like Iron.

Hi David, Thanks and yes I know that IE10 is available for Win 7 but decided to wait for the Windows Update to install it. That should happen within a few months I believe to have read. I'm in no hurry as I have currently 2 excellent browsers. :)

The honest answer to your question these days is "whichever one you prefer".

All the major browser producers perform regular security updates, on a modern machine there is almost no difference in speed at a level most people care about (i.e. 1/2 a second), most browsers offer extensions of varying degrees of usefulness, and they all perform their basic function well.

In the past I would have recommended firefox without a pause, but now you hsould go for whichever browser offers the extensions you need.

I also use pale moon and love it, but I can't say I've noticed a 25% speed increase. I am on a less than year old computer however.

My second browser is "Waterfox" (64 bit Firefox) and it is definitely slower than "Palemoon" not by a huge amount but it is noticable.
I ran a simple test and had both browsers open then loaded the same website (MGs) in both and Palemoon was without doubt faster.

  15. Firefox is much improved. It now has an amazing ability to be speedy even with hundreds of tabs whereas other browsers slow down with a few dozen or even a dozen. Of course it has lots of good add-ons. One I would not want to be without is Session Manager, which restores your tabs even when Firefox's restore session feature fails.

I also am using Pale Moon as a backup and finding it's mighty good.

Another Palemoon user here, but this is totally true (go with whatever you like the best):
