I have a basic C#/WPF program that I wrote for an assignment, and I need screenshots and feedback about how it looks on:

    Windows 7
    Windows XP
    Windows...Vista?

    Anyone willing?

Ok, I just got done testing it on my Win 7 Home Premium and I'm not sure what kind feedback you are looking for so I'll give you a brief run down.

Install was simple & easy. Program opened flawlessly and the buttons responded when pressed (although I'm still a bit lost on what it actually supposed to do LOL)

The attached pictures represent what it looked liked when first opened and when each button was pushed. Hope this helps!

    Thanks, both of you!

It is a simple dice roll program. It rolls them 100 times, and then writes it to a file. Then you can read the file back and get the results of the rolls, including the total.

Someone sent me a vista screenshot. Now I just need to see if it will work on XP.

I appreciate the screenshots. I have Windows 8 here and all my machines are running at 1080p resolution and different font sizes. Sometimes that skews how things look for everyone else.

Oh ok, that's what I thought.

Initially, I was clicking on the picture of the dice going "do something!" then I was like let me press these buttons.. airhead I know :-D

Oh, and Chrome did not like it. :p

Chrome doesn't like anything it doesn't recognize (and no easter egg this time).

    In the last class?

We had to build an address book in VB. I ended up coding most of it.

Does not work on my XP puter. Said it could not start, and to contact the vendor? Very long install, had to install some .Net stuff I did not have. Then no worky.

OK, that one works I guess. It makes a noise... Avast does not like it much. :-D

Notes the lack of an installer, and gives Adry an evil look.

It took me forever and a day to figure out how to make a wpf menu bar.

My next test will be named Trojan.zip :-D

Meant to type 'un-installer', but I blame your program for my typos now. :-D:-D

It lied too, because it has an uninstaller :p

Guess my brain is on vacation. I don't see one in the folder. CCleaner found it. :cool

.NET handles installation and removal. It isn't an msi installer/uninstaller.

I think the reason you saw the issues is that you tried to run it from within the zip instead of extracting it.

Cool program. Installed it to Windows XP 64-bit using the first provided link. It downloaded and installed .NET Framework 4, which required a restart. System restarted, it began a download, asked if I wanted to install from an untrusted publisher. I agreed, program ran, did what it was asked, closed properly. Uninstalled cleanly.

    Nice work.

I don't see the point of the program.

Anyway, Chrome had no issue downloading it.

As you already have "testers" for my Windows, etc. I don't need to post any results.

  33. Adrynalyne

    Adrynalyne Guest

I just needed testers, mostly to make sure there weren't any layout issues in different OSes (I ran into that with vb.net, using window forms). The program does have a point for those who seek to know though.

Then, from the second version I posted:

Thanks for letting me know that Chrome downloaded it though :)

    Its fine ;)

Chrome saw an installer inside a zip and compared it to its database of commonly downloaded apps in a similar configuration, and because it didn't match a name, it shows a warning.

I'm pretty sure that the "need for testers" was conveyed by the thread title.

It has a point for those who seek to know?

So, you said pretty much nothing up there.rolleyes

Yeah... thankfully! Otherwise, I'd have never figured out the complicated process to get it to work.

Sure... not that it matters, though. Almost EVERYONE has multiple browsers, if only IE as a second one.

  38. mcsmc

    mcsmc MajorGeek

That's a nice guess, but doesn't explain why I didn't replicate the issue on my machine.

  39. Adrynalyne

Obviously you needed that, because you couldn't figure out the point of the program.

Troll someone else, I am the last person you want to mess with.

I personally do not care. Why are you even in this thread, if not to derail it?

I wasn't testing how Chrome would react to it, nor does it matter. Because:

    1. If it was a real application, I would sign it.
    2. I wouldn't distribute it in a zip file.

Now, thank you for stopping by and letting me know something irrelevant is not happening to you. Now you can go on about your day without wasting your time, or mine.rolleyes

If I sound snarky, it is because you have done nothing but try to irritate me in this thread. Well done, you succeeded.

This thread has run its course and I appreciate everyone that posted without the intent of being a troll.
