Not hijacking another thread(just beating the title to death) but this just started happening in Firefox.
you can copy in a program .i.e. email But when going to right click to use the delete.the command it's not there anymore.it was not an hour ago. this is weird.
can anyone relate or help with this? would a keyboard command do the trick?don't know it.
    Thank You

Are you saying that you don't have a "Delete" menu option when you right-click?

The "Delete" menu option on right-click is usually visible when you select some text that you can edit then pressing right-click near the selected text. This is the same as using the Delete or Backspace key in edittable text fields and can also be found pressing the Windows Menu key then D.

Where are you right-clicking? Are you able to use the keyboard to modify the text that you want to Delete? Does the right-click work in other programs or applications?

that is exactly what I'm saying, the delete is gone from the right click menu.
why am I right clicking?to highlight and use delete of other e addresses in email sent(before passing on).Delete when highlighted takes out the message completely.Backspace works taking things out manually.the menu option is betterIMHO.not sure about other programs but will be asap

Make sure you highlight only the text that you want to remove.

Some e-mail clients like to prevent editting of the original message, including the e-mail addresses, but allow you to modify it once a particular edit option is enabled.

Which e-mail client within Firefox are you using?

Does the Cut (or Control-X) function work on the selected text that you want to remove?

Is there a Message Options function that allows you to modify a received e-mail that you wish to sent on to someone else? (this is to override the protection on modifying the original message)

Can you cut/paste the message you want to send into a simple text based editor, such as Notepad, then modify it there and cut/paste back into the e-mail message you want to send?

I am using hotmail with firefox and do just highlight want needs to come out.copy is there, little else.cut? i.e. control X doesn't appear in menu.when certain things like pics(or graphs) are involved it does not copy/paste well.
it does on this end but not if I wanted to use it to send.btw delete option works in IE... just don't like explorer.just worked in this message with FF

What Firefox add-ons have you got installed? Does this include NoScript that may be blocking the particualr edit options?

No squint, https everywhere, cleanr for you tube videos,WOT and a photobucket uploader are add -ons.NoScript has not presented itself as one or have never seen it

What type of e-mail are you modifying? This is usually one of "Rich Text", "Plain Text" or "HTML".

Also, what keyboard shortcuts have you selected within the e-mail options? This can be one of "Gmail", "Yahoo!", "Outlook, com" or "None".

Hotmail had recently changed to Outlook.com and uses a Windows 8 look-and-feel. This "upgrade" may have affected the Hotmail behaviour and It may be that the "Outlook.com" note applies as a result of this change:
If you require more control over your e-mail, I suggest using one of the e-mail clients listed here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=20

It's really not modifying anything.just getting rid of other peoples email addresses.I hardly if ever use rich text.keyboard shortcuts are good in only some circumstances.additionally while hotmail has prompted users to use outlook they don't have to.I don't.they are forcing Skype on users in place of IM.
so not buying into the crap as WLM was more of an email alert than chat But that's another topic entirely.
    cheers

Have you tried highlighting the addresses you wish to delete and then hitting the backspace key?

Did you try Firefox's Safe Mode and see if that works for you? Worth a try.

I also have NoSquint extension and had to zoom it back to 100% in my ISP's webmail because weird things such as increasing fonts automatically when starting a new email paragraph. Other strange things were happening as well.

    Help>Restart >with addons disabled

never even thought the fox had a safe mode but guess restart without add ons could be worth a shot as long as nothing gets lost.

No, you won't loose any extension. Just work in safe mode by doing exact the same as when you did in Fx's regular mode. Once done with safe mode, exit Fx and when restarting Fx, it wil be in regular mode. In a way safe mode is a troubleshooter mode.

Safe mode just disables the extensions and some other stuff. If what you want to do works in safe mode then it is most likely an extension. Back in regular mode just disable one extension at the time, work with what you wanted to do, do the next extension and so forth until you find the one that causes the problem.

If working in safe mode doesn't work for you, then perhaps someone else can help you.
