    Neat, but extremely over priced.

woot I want one for each big screen at my place to get rid of the clunky old quadcore HTPCs cobbled together from old superceded gamer junk from the graveyard in the shed rolleyes

What a great find and only $399 :cool
I'm going to order a couple if they ship to Australia ;)

    Dayum :-o
I misread the specs and thought it came with 1Tb SSD but at $399 it is only a 16Gb SSD WTF :cry

I haven't found anyone with a price with at least 60Gb but preferably a 120Gb SSD and it will need a USB sound card too :(

Maybe Adry is right although I just priced a good quality (box only) silent i3 HTPC with micro ATX footprint at AU$700 including legal OEM windows pro :(

I just sent off an enquiry to see how much a Z3ro with a decent size SSD is going to be so I will report back when I find out ;)

    Cheers :drink

$399 Seems expensive for a slow laptop without a screen, keyboard, hard drive, battery or operating system.

If it's a desktop it has to have the power of a desktop but it doesn't, it also doesn't have the portability of a laptop or even the power by the listed specs, the $850 version only has a dual core A64.

Joffa you looking at I3 desktops and comparing them:-D An I3 cpu alone can pull 100watts, this pulls 15W. It doesn't take much math to work out how fast it will be.

Yeah but I only want HTPC that is silent and very small and this is very small. Thanks for the good advice and I totally agree the i3 is a much better deal for processing power but size is a very big issue for me. This will do the job of playing movies and music off my 36Tb NAS just fine but at $716 each plus delivery to Australia I don't think so. The one you have linked has got a fan and my spec has to be fanless.
Currently I have two i7 quadcores with ATI 4890 video cards but the fan noise gives me s#*ts and the PC cases are old tower cases that were in the PC graveyard and they take up too much space in the lounge room and also the family room and plus the single most important reason is she who must be obeyed doesn't like them one bit as they are quote "too big and ugly"

@Adry you are correct it is very expensive @$716 for one with an internal 120Gb SSD and windows included :(
Originally I misread the spec and thought I was getting 1Tb for $399 and though it was very cheap lol ;)

Ahhh it's not you making the decision then:-D Many a more unscrupulous man would use this opportunity to over spend on a new toy:p

Yeah I'd still be looking at a small quiet laptop rather than this, I have one that spends a lot of time connected to the downstairs TV via hdmi for movies and the like, , looks like part of the furniture, doesn't take up much space with the added advantage it plays blue rays and obviously can be picked up and used seperately if the TV is being used or you don't want to watch a movie.

If it's just for media streaming alone you could always opt for a media streamer rather than a dedicated pc.

Interestingly I got a Sony bravia not long back and it's possible to network itt with my computer then stream them directly on the TV, I would imagine video format could be a problem though, never used it as it's connected directly to my main box via hdmi and optical.

My computer is almost silent but I can't imagine your better half would want a 18 inch square black radiator next to the TV.roflmao

Hehehe the thought did occur to me and it would be two new toys ;) except for the noisy fans I quite like the i7 970s that are already running in old gaming tower cases ;) and I could quieten them down if need be :)

Thats a pretty darn good suggestion.... hmmm you're not just a pretty face LOL

I just got rid a twin tuner D'Vico last year as its fan was too noisy playing bluray movies but nice thought. I looked at an AC Ryan and a WD media player and didn't want either as I didn't like the slow interface rolleyes

Bravia are very good but over here they are way too pricey. I have a new 65" Hi Sense 3D LED which I got on special and a Panasonic 60" plasma for the kids :cool

You have accurately summed up the situation hence the new SMALL HTPC but with your great idea I might mount my 3 year old Toshiba satellite laptop somewhere behind the screen with a USB wireless keyboard and then buy myself a really nice new laptop hehehe :-D

    Way to go maaaate :wave
