smart phone with keyboard

I like the Sprint Rumor 2
because
I have a side button I can press that takes me directly to the camera function
-the SD card is easy to get to from the side port
I have a one button to press to look at my contact list
I have one button to press to call someone(speed dial)
I can get to my calendar/notepad with a press of the black center button up or down


I do not have easy access to email/google, so I want a smart phone
I currently have a HTC sprint evo, which sucks as there is no numberpad, just a screen and a slide out keyboard
is there a smart phone that has the assets I like in the Rumor2?

yes, they do
there is not numerical keypad, like a real phone. so invariably, I have to hit 2+ buttons to just make a call

like I said I wanted

because it's not a phone, its a tablet, that i can't dial with 2 keystrokes(like speedial on a phone,like what I have-->)

see with this phone, I have 2 things, I want 3
I have:
1. a numerical phonepad to make speedial calls, press button/press send or just hit send to call number I just called

2 I have a qwerty keypad to text
I want 1+2 and 3
3 is a smart phone-able to access email/use google

I dont want a phone that lacks 1+2 because I use my phone(call/text) 99% of the time and I dont need a crappy computer to search on google/check email that I get to use my finger to access and then not have the phone capabilites(1+2)

but It seems every phone out there is a slick, keyless paperweight that doesnt do anything optimally, except be portable,...portable enough to drop in the toilet

 

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has one-touch speed dial functions, you just have to program them before you can use them, just like any other phone. Or if you prefer, you can set up the voice commands so you never have to press a single button or touch the screen in any way in order to make a call. It seems reasonable to assume the Galaxy S Relay would have similar features.

You may not be able to find a phone that has exactly what your old phone used to have, but that doesn't mean that you can't get the functionality you want. You just get it in a different way.

 

how does the Samsung Galaxy S3 have a speed dial without a numerical keypad?
I also have to set up the speed dial on my phone to get the two button speedial.. but then I have to press

and I'm done

speech function? interesting, I have a speech function on my car

and it doesn't work 100% of the time...which Im sure is in part because I have dysarthria . But if Im in a public place, I dont want to be talking to my phone saying, "call David", etc I just want to quickly and 100% accurately press a few buttons.

I dont understand what you are saying about not finding a phone with the functionality I want? i want two main things, which I said

so having a slick paperweight isnt what I want. I have a computer if I need to use it

I tap the dialer and long press the speed dial number. Done. Not more work than your feature phone. In fact, that is how virtually all smartphones work. Two clicks, no less, no more.

As Mimsy mentioned, the Galaxy S3 meets all your needs, 1-3.

I tend to doubt the 2 clicks and a call is being placed, I bet its more like SWIPE to get phone on
click button to bring up numerical keypad on SCREEN
-if your speed dial set to call "1800-pizza-4U" then you have to:
click number 2 then dial/hold 2 down till the phone dials

the phone I have now, with a numerical keypad, means I have to
1 hit 2
2 hit send
order pizza

2 buttons and faster/more accurate than the G-S-3 or any smart phone I've seen

 

that's the plan, but it makes it kinda odd to have to pull out my laptop to watch pron on the subway....

 

Actually, the Galaxy S3 can do that too.

 

But the S3 doesn't meet his needs, without him EVER using it!

He doesn't want to be helped, but rather complain.

I've noticed it from most of his postings and I just don't have time for such silliness.

Which is why I'm leaving it now. The point of this forum is to give constructive help to people who want it. This thread doesn't fit that definition so, just like you, I have other things to do.

even with all the time I spent with clarity about the kind of Chocolate-chocolate chip Ice cream I wanted.
I kept getting told,
"go get vanilla-chocolate chip Ice cream! its just like chocolate, its cold, its fatty, its gives ice cream headaches,,, you want chocolate? pffffftt, GO EAT VANILLA!

I'll just stick with the chocolate ice cream I have, I can live without the extra chocolate chips....
