Nice looking set-up, I have to finish buying the parts for my new build and I'll be made in the shade. Just wish I had space for a desk, I'd only have a dual monitor set up though.

Awesome! I love overkill! Nice desk, but how do you go through the doors? Tape says do not cross... :-D

What CPU are you running in that beast?

Heh Heh. I've only had this desk for 3 days!
On an unrelated note; aahhh WPF. Everybody's favorite headache.

Coming from Java and Swing, I totally dig WPF. Win forms aren't flexible enough.

Sorry, my last post didn't make much sense.
I was moving my files from my os partition to my data partition so that I could shrink my os partition and mirror it. I decided to just go with a fresh install though. So all those transfers were mechanical -> mechanical.

And the R\W is 490\240 (on the SSD)

I have that Cisco phone in my office in work and the 24 dddd d dd ring tone!

IP Phones great until the network goes down and then who do you call??!! not Ghostbusters :)

SSDs are now unreal, the earlier ones I used great but not a patch on the likes of the OCZ Vertex 4s

If you cisco IP phone goes down, you call IS on your colleagues, or on your moblie. ;)

Just imagine: "When your phone goes dead, on your office desk, who you gonna call? Information Services!" Oh, it doesn't fit. :-D

Or, "If your IP phone goes down, make it mobile. Throw it across the room." :-D

I thought of that and did laugh when IT dept added the IP phones to the dept, in that I still have a fixed line on a university network I can use.

OR I just do no work for the day as I cannot contact IT :)

I tried that once but my boss got all shouty and told me to walk to the IS desk in the same building to have it fixed.:cry

    :-D:-D:-D

WTF? Walk? Heck the phone is broke! How are the escalators going to work? And the coffee pot?

    :-D

  24. collinsl

    collinsl MajorGeek

Our building has lifts and stairs. And coffee is provided by Catering Services and local pots are banned!:cry:cry:cry

Call me paranoid, but if they can't get the phones to work, I sure am not going to trust the lift.

    :-D

...Then you'll just have to climb over the outer walls of the building like Spiderman, and go through the windows. .;)

  28. Fred_G

No windows where I work... :cry

  29. collinsl

The lifts are provided by an outside company so they are safe(r);)

The windows don't open. Apparently air conditioning is more environmentally friendly than a breeze.

  30. Fred_G

    Fred_G Heat packin' geek

Hmm, perhaps provided by an outside company with the lowest bid?? :-D

  31. collinsl

    collinsl MajorGeek

If you think the Otis Elevator Company is the lowest bidder, then yes.:-D

  32. Fred_G

Does the bidding process go with the lowest bid, or best company?

Apparently venting the basement up to the top floor for cooling is ineffective.

Swamp cooling is so primitive, and inefficient...
