Anyone else having issues with malwarebytes?

I downloaded malwarebytes from this website, because it was recommended.

I used it before and every now and then it would detect something, but for a while now it really doesn't detect some things that my '' superantispyware free edition'' ( also recommended from here) does pick up.

For the most part i would that the superantispyware software is pretty good because it detects almost all threats i have had in the past. However it seems malwarebytes has become trash not only that it seems that every time there is an update and i click to update the registry it picks up '' trojans'' .

Some of the trojans it picks up are programs i have been using and are CLEAN and have NEVER caused any issues for me. And now with the recent update it is picking up some trojans in my windows files which i am quite sure is not any trojans?

Also everytime i seem to update malwarebytes ( ever since they changed to the new theme and such) it seems my superantispyware software detects adware and such from the recent update. The reason i state it comes from malwarebytes is because i happened to run a scan JUST BEFORE i updated it and everything came clean.

Then i updated the software ( from malwarebytes) and that's when superantispyware software detects the new update as adware. Anyone have these issues with malwarebytes lately?

The reason i posted this in the software forum and not the malware removal is because i think its a software issue and not necessarily actually malware.

For any person knowledgeable regarding this issue, please check the attached picture of where the malwarebytes software is detecting the 2 trojans. It just seems really odd that whenever i update malwarebytes it detects trojans in my pc, which it seems to do everytime its updated.

The last time it detected a trojan ( when it was last updated), was for a video converting software which is CLEAN.

Anyways for this current issue i just put ignore , instead of remove or quarantine.

3f429.msi appears to be related to IntelliPoint 2.2C Upgrade which is an executable from the software Microsoft Pointing Device Software version 4.71.0 by Microsoft Corporation. Sound like something you have on your system?

The MD5 hash for this is posted at:

I would check and make sure you have the real deal, not a nasty.

There is another reference to this from Avast:
Check the top scroll box "Changes to registry"

The bottom line here is that any anti-virus or anti-malware product is going to have false positives from time to time. The thing to do is to report them to the vendor so they can work the problem.

Also, check the files at VirusTotal to see what they detect. One or two hits from the 40 odd checks it makes could be indicative of a false positive, a dozen hits means most likely it is a real nasty.

Last, I would run this past the Jedis in the malware forum. I think they are better prepared to help in a situation like this better than the denizens of this forum.

Thanks for the reply, i am not sure if having malwarebytes is even worth it anymore, it just seems to have more bugs and causes more problems than before.

On top of that i am not sure the updates are tested fully by the developers before they are made live.

I googled a bit on the issue and it seems some peoples operating system stopped working properly after having having the items removed/ or quarantined.

Being that it wanted to mess with some windows files and that i have had my computer running normal, on top of the malwarebytes having more bugs than ever i was hesitant on letting the thing '' fix'' the issues.

Also i think the IntelliPoint 2.2C upgrade is something the windows updates installed for security purposes?

Also what files to i check in virus total? I can't find the ones being mentioned in the scan in my windows folder

I've always found malwarebytes to be top-notch. Keep in mind it isn't a mgic button, you should check out the things it sez are nasties for yourself before deleting. Often with these nasties it is the location, not the file name, that is the giveaway. Things that reside outside win32 are often suspect. there is a learning curve...

I haven't had that experience with MB...
    Search doesn't turn them up?
Did you delete them with MB? Are they in Quarantine?
Try using Everything, a nice file searching tool...

I didn't appear to find the files through manually searching them in the windows folder. I was asking if maybe i should look for some specific folders inside the windows folder to find them ( i searched most of them and couldn't find them).

I didn't remove or quarantine any of the so called '' trojans'' it detected and posted a picture of. I put to ''ignore'', the only thing sitting in quarantine is a converting software ( mkv to mp4 or something like that) , which isn't even a threat.

This is why i state malwarebytes has been trash lately it doesn't pick up on some things and when it does it messes with my system in a bad way, it seems the software updates are too buggy to actually be of any use.

Not sure if this is somewhat related to my recent detection? http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=125138

Can anyone recommend another alternative to malwarebytes? For the most part my mcafee, and superantispyware portable take care of issues, though maybe there is something else like malwarebytes just without all the recent software bugs it has lately.

Malwarebytes is not a buggy program. If you are having problems with it there either must be malware where it says there is, or there must be underlying issues that it has exposed.

My suggestion would be to either go the malware forum and ask for help clearing the malware, or update your file backup to most recent (Assuming you have a backup) and to reinstall Windows to clear these issues.

Malware Bytes states: "The offending database was v2013.04.15.12, and was live for only 8 minutes." Is this the database on your install? if it is, I'd do the appropriate step they recommend.

Otherwise I would follow the steps already outlined in my previous post. Report and Recover. If this doesn't make it right, the Jedis may be able to better assist you.

I've run malwarebytes since 2008. I currently have it installed on 5 computers in the house (4 paid licenses and 1 free). I've had issues from time to time and I head to the forum.

Go there. Use their expertise. They WILL solve your problem and answer your questions.

In fact, I had a major problem on one of the 5 computers with the latest version 1.75 that had nothing to do with the bad database online for several minutes. None of my computers updated in that 8 - 10 minute period. They stuck with me until it was fixed. Apparently quite a few people had problems with this version which have now been fixed.
