:cry ON Mac PC using Safari web browser, I like to check hotmail, Facebook and My msn several times per day, so I keep myself signed in all day to each. However I do close the browser and go back to my home page/screen saver. The cable modem is on all the time, but the browser is not open. At day's end I shut down the computer, printer etc for the night.

My daughter says I need to sign out of each program before going to the next one or surfing the web in general. She also says I should never ask these websites to remember me, as then Hackers can hack my computer.

Can hackers hack if your browser is not on? Can they hack if I switch from FB to email etc while sessioning during day?
    Thanks.

If you close your browser, you've effectively logged out of all the sites. But it is a good idea to log out of your email or Facebook account when done with your current session in it before going to the next email account you want to check or Facebook — in fact one of my email accounts brings up a message when I log into it if I forgot to sign out of my last session.

You don't need the sites to remember you because the browser can remember your login user name and password for each site.

Thanks, That is what I thought. If you close Safari or internet explorer you are safe. I have PC at home and internet Explorer 8 and I Have to open browser to go anywhere, but Word or my computer files. Thanks so much.:)
