Some majorgeeks website things to look into.

Hi,

I see the main MJ website has been redesigned, I only have a few remarks to make. Please consider looking into it, but these are minimal.

1) There is no longer a favicon.ico which is a shame since probably lots of folk will have the site bookmarked in their browser bookmarks-bar, so now it shows an empty space instead of the nice favicon.

2) On all the products pages there are clickable screenshots tumbnails, but looking further into this the small thumbnails have a larger filesize than the actual image presented when being clicked. So something is wrong there.

Other than that, good job.

Just checked making a new bookmark and the icon is still there.

As for the small screen shot image being larger than initially shown, that is typical with web design.
Otherwise, the web page would require downloading two images instead of one - one for the screenshot and one for the enlargement.

The screenshot image is resized from 250 x 244 pixels to 100 x 100 pixels.

Correction:
There are two images. The larger one is 631 x 615 pixels.

 

Actually, mnjc, the favicon does NOT appear in the the forums or the front page for me either using Chrome or IE. The Forum shows the Vbulletin stock icon of a V, and yet there is a favicon.ico

This could be a permissions issue.

 

I haven't seen anything other than the vBulletin stock V on Chrome for at least a year. It's got nothing to do with the new home page.

 

Ditto.. No favicon ever for me. :-D
IIRC, Tim (MA) mentioned it was not incorporated. Now that I'm reminded... I want favicon. :cry:-D

I still see the army guy next to the address when starting a new bookmark for the home page.

 

I just tried it, and it does work on the home page of the main site in Chrome. But only on the home page. It used to be on my bookmark for the forums, but disappeared at least a year ago (probably more), and doesn't work if you create a new bookmark.

 

I just get the default vBulletin icon, fwiw.
