    Greetings:

Two days ago I had (printer icon, page, safety, tools & ?) on the right side of my browser. I had a 'yahoo' email icon on the left. Suddenly the 'yahoo' icon disappeared and the (printer icon, page, safety, tools & ?) appeared on the right. I know a new version of IE 7 must have updated. How do I restore to the simple comfort I had before? Tried searching the help ask library (nothing). This has happened before and I hate when a weekly system change alters my settings. Can anyone please assist/advise.

    Cheers,
    Snapper

What version of Windows are you using ?? Have you tried Internet Options- Advanced tab, and reset IE ?? You really should upgrade to the newest version of IE that you can get, or try Chrome or Firefox or any other numerous browsers out there, for the security and safety side of browsing.

    Greetings Sgt Nick T:)

Thank you for your fast response: IE 7, have not tried reset yet - was not sure that would correct. After I reset - should I lock tool bars?

I am a researcher using multiple sites which are only best compatable with IE, and why I stay. Chrome is site/friendly to the sites I work with, but hard to arrange day-to-day operational comfort. That is my ' favorites' drop down menu is a crucial detail in my work function. I do appreciate your raising my awareness to the 'insecure' world of IE.

I will try a reset shortly and see what happens - most likely a follow up question.

Thank you - will return soon.

    Sgt Nick T:
Just attempted a 'reset default condition' which warns I will loose all my settings. This seems a bit risky - and... all I want to do is move the (printer icon, Page, Safety, tools) icons back to the right side of browser, and put back the yahoo mail icon on the right. Is there a way I can do this. Again IE 7.

    Thank you,

The easiest way is to do a rollback prior to this change.

Go to start>accessories > system tools> system restore.
Pick a date prior to the problem (3 days ago or more)

    No risks at all.
None of your files are lost.

All it does is put your comp in the state it was before the problem.

If it doesn't solve the problem ( although I'm sure it will) you can simply reverse the process.

BTW - If you installed any programs before you do the restore, they will have to be reinstalled.

    @ Snapper,

I want to mention that I hope you are making a complete backup of your OS.

If you have a crash, you simply run the program, and everything is back to normal quickly, including OS, updates, etc.

If you have a Seagate, Maxtor or WD hdd, you can use Acronis Trueimage and it is free for the above hdds.

Make sure to create a bootable cd ( from the program instructions)

Unless I've overlooked it, I don't see an answer to this question.

If you are using Windows XP, the latest version of IE is 8. So, why don't you update your IE to the latest version available for your OS and then pursue a resolution to your issue.

My error - I am at IE 9 and Windows 7. This is my work computer and Windows 8 was unsuccessful with the internal databases I use. It was necessary to go back to 7.
