    Hello

My PC is crashing about every hour. It is pretty random in what happens. Usually I can't alt tab or ctrl alt del or anything and my main window is still interactive, but pressing any of the buttons like closing, minimizing,... won't do trigger anything. Sound keeps playing for a while, I can even talk to friends on skype for a few moments longer. But slowly, everything starts freezing.

Sometimes I can tab between programs. Eventually I am left over with my desktop screen. My icons on the desktop will disappear shortly after, followed by an eventual black screen with only my mouse. I can move the mouse during the whole period. Pressing the restart button on my pc will get the pc stuck on the very first BIOS Screen of my motherboard. I have to hold the power button a while so the pc shuts down. After powering on the pc again, everything will work fine untill the next crash (happens every 30-60mins).

Things I have tried or confirmed
    - I have checked for registry problems and resolved them (using CCleaner)
    - I have checked for updates on my Crucial M4 SSD (containing the OS). It was already running the latest drivers.
    - I have done a full virusscan
    - I have switched the RAM and taken one out etc.

I would like some help or idead on what I could do to check for any Software or Hardware defaults. (didn't know if it belonged to software or hardware)

I do suspect it's a cause of faulty hardware.

Parts I am suspicious about are:
    - Motherboard
    - PSU
    - SSD

I have had problems with my PSU and Motherboard before. The PSU connector to the motherboard was having issues. 2 of the contact pins were having bad contact or something (they were getting noticeably darker and it caused full pc crashes before) My father then pulled the pins a bit out for better contact and used some contact spray on it. This solved the issue for a good month as I now started getting these crashes/freezes.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, I alrdy tried doing that with the update exe from crucial but it said I had no ssd's that needed an update so I assumed it was alrdy the latest version. After your comment I went a bit deeper into it and looked in the device manager to see my current firmware version.

It appeared it wasn't up to date, so now I updated it using a bootusb.

Will let you know if it works. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for the replies so far! :)

Updating the SSD firmware (manually) seems to have fixed the issue! Thanks alot everyone
