    Hello guys
Just installed the latest version of avast 8 free and when I delete temp files the avast temp file tells me that this file is shared with other people so deleting it i will be unable to share it. i do delete it but Trouble is when deleting temp files later avast is there again, so it’s always sharing. How do I stop avast from giving me this message? I don’t want to compromise security.
    Thanks

Exactly how are you deleting temp files? Is that a procedure outside of avast!? Can you post a screen capture showing the avast! message?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry it’s windows temp folder I delete the avast temp file from not within the avast programme. Here is the screenshot.
    thanks

I've been an avast! Free Antivirus user for two years or longer. I see no point is such a procedure and I've never heard of anyone else doing this. Just let avast! take care of itself for you.

With respect, I have always deleted all temp files from my pc. To me it’s all part of pc maintenance. Deleting temp files saves space and declutters my hard drive. The avast temp folder is just one of these files. I have been an avast free user for a long time and have always deleted the avast temp file from windows temp folder without receiving this message. I now find it strange that windows is giving me this message when trying to delete it. Who am I sharing this folder with? Is the main reason for my concern. Are personal details compromised having this folder shared with others? I don’t know. Am I being overly cautious where pc security is involved? Maybe. All I know is that in all the years I have been deleting avast temp files I have never received this message when trying to delete it from windows temp folder. I think it’s reasonable to assume that for me, anyway, it’s unusual for this to happen.

As you know, there will only be ONE avast file in that Temp folder. And, it's very small. Right now, the avast file in the Temp folder on my laptop is 1KB. And, yes, if you delete it, it will reappear. What does this tell you? Obviously, avast normally keeps a file there. So, I'll say again, let avast manage that file and stop tampering with it. I also suggest you use CCleaner to clean up temporary files or use Windows Disk Cleanup utility and let one of these tools take care of your Temp files.
