Link one is about solar installation, and link two is a come on.

The best thing to do is call the local power company and see what they offer for reverse meters and what kind of contracts they need. Probably also insurance so they don't have to pay if a lightning strike hits your equipment and damages their lines. Also have a conversation with a lawyer, if you aren't sure what kind, most lawyers will know who you need to talk to. The right lawyer will be able to help you figure out what laws, rules and regulations you need to know about and abide by, and should be able to help you jump through any legal hoops.

They should also be able to help with applying for grants, and all of that will help when you go to get a loan.

Both links show that Google is useful in such cases....rolleyes

I was in a hurry and didn't read them because it isn't a subject that concerns me.

    doesnt concern you?

long story short, I just want to know:
why dont you want to help dogs and cats?

oh, I didnt realize you needed me to spell it out for you:-D'
See, Im trying to get a solar farm going, in doing so Im working to make the world a better place by getting our reliance on foreign oil/ and yucky* coal diminished by utilizing the power that is just being wasted.
Working to make solar farm would give some jobs to local Americans. These americans are very likely to have families with children and dogs and cats.

so if you arent helping me out, then you are essientally killing cats/dogs and letting the terrorists win, not to mention harming me personally, I get emotional and tend to eat my feelings. so why do you want me to be fat and have high cholestrol?? will you get joy when I have a heart attack and die along with the cats and dogs you're killing?**

Trying to make the world a better place? Awesome! So you are doing it for cost of the equipment only, right?

    Doubt it ;)

The world is going to be fine, no matter what people do to it.
the only ones affected by the crap we do to the world is people. so by helping to provide renewable energy, I am helping people(and pets, etc)

so you think I have such low self-esteem that I'd provide a product for free?
how else am I gonna afford windows 19 or my I-BrainImplant?

Just confirming that your altruistic attitude is disingenuous.

    nothing at all disingenuous?
I am helping the people in the world, having my hobby get paid doesnt negate that fact.
I will have a great day, you try to get some at some point, k?;)

ATM Investing in solar is like investing in a long stock, you won't see any return for about 20 years and that's only if the price of energy doesn't drop in the next 20 years, if some new form of fuel is discovered in mean time which is very likely IMO your money is lost.

Your money could also be lost if you cannot find a buyer for your electricity, transmitting that electricity to someone who can use it could removes any possible gain if you live in the sticks or if the energy transmission economy changes in your area such as a new local power station or natural resource.

I've looked into it a lot, in uk where I live it can be viable financially if the system functions perfectly for 20 years, if you get a government grant to partially pay to build the system 'which have all now been stopped due to recession'and if the legislation that forces the energy company to buy the electricity for higher than it's actual worth to conform to Kyoto agreements holds and is stuck to.

If I had £10-20,000 laying around I wouldn't be building a small solar farm with it even if it was sunny where I lived, the price and efficiency of semi conductor solar panels has to come down and go up respectively, don't listen to all the BS that people tryna sell you solar panels puke, only money to be made is selling the panels.

@ Rikky:- Yep, where I live, it's hot and sunny for nine months of the year, and it's still not worth it. And we still have the Govt. grant system here, (for now, anyway). The catch is, you have to pay for the entire setup and hope that the Govt. will reimburse you for some. Good luck with that.rolleyes Buy the time it's paid for and making a, (very little) money, it's time to replace it.

The only solar Instillation I have is for the hot water, which helps with the, (ridiculous) power bill a bit. And that's NOT solar cell tech!
Oh yeah, don't forget, you'll have the huge displeasure of cleaning the s/cell array every six months.
Wanna help humanity? Then invent some truly efficient and cheap solar cells. If you do do, I guarantee you'll be very rich. Yes, it's not easy, that's why no one's done it yet.

Those are really good and you can get the glass tube thingys pretty cheap now, I would definitely consider one.

I estimated the hot water we use heated by gas costs around £50 a month so if that could be reduced by 50% saving £25 per month that's £300 per year, I've seen the cheap systems going for £500-1000 self fitted so even after 4 years it will have paid for itself.

Wow £400 now for a 20 tube panel, I remember looking at these 2 years ago and they started at £600.

Do you have any kind of electronic gizmo's controlling the water flow and storage Phantom?

Actually, the cheap solar option is the concentrated solar tower, but it's still expensive.
