I have some old pc's that i need to reinstall windows.

1 has windows vista home premium and the other has windows 7 pro.

Is it possible to just download the operating systems and put in my keys? If so, can someone point me to the right direction? I already have my keys for both operating systems and i can't seem to find the reinstall disks.

I was basically planning on wiping off the drives, and reinstalling the OS on both since 1 had some virus , and the other i just want to reinstall it once again.

Digitalriver has most Windows versions as ISO downloads. Do you need the 32-bit or 64-bit versions?

64 bit for both of them

Please excuse my ignorance but i don't need to re-buy anything do i? Considering i already paid for these in a bundle before and have original keys.

Nope, as long as you still have legit keys, digital river should have isos, i know they have the seven one for sure. Not sure about vista.

Here's a link and instructions for Vista, and a link for Windows 7 .isos.

Usually, the downloads from Digital River come as ESDs in a 3-part box form. So' it's really important you follow the instructions on the Vista page I linked to. You may need to activate the installations by phone if they won't activate online.

Be sure you download the version(s) that were originally on the computer(s) or you'll get Invalid Product Key errors.

I just happened to realize something. If you're talking about using the keys from the sticker(s) on the computer(s), those are OEM keys for the OS(es) that were originally installed on the computer(s).

While you'll be able to install the downloads from Digital River, the OEM keys won't work with them. You'll HAVE to purchase Product Keys from Microsoft for the Digital River downloads.

Maybe a better (by that, I mean, perhaps, less expensive) alternative would be to purchase Installation CDs with COAs/Product Keys from eBay or Amazon.com. I know Ebay has them because I've been looking into XP replacements, myself, for when Microsoft Windows XP support ends April 8, 2014.
