Cant open Excel or Word dont know why?

The only thing I have done recently is install a free trial of a program supposed to speed up my computer which has been very slow which is should be very fast since I have a 3.1GHZ with 8.0 RAM.

The program is called System Mechanic.

how do I get back into word and excel and I cant re-install them, I dont have any kind of software?

First, since you do not like the program System Mechanic, have you tried uninstalling it yet? That shouldn't be messing with Office programs though and do not suspect that it was responsible for the issue you describe.

For our other readers, can you give more detail on what happens when you try to open Excel or Word? e.g. An error message saying "" appears

 

brad1431...not sure about where this is in Windows 7, but in XP if you go into your control panel add/remove programs area, you can find an option to run a repair feature for MS Office. Accessing the feature is accomplished by clicking on Office in the add/remove list to see the option...

 

I am ok with the program so far, it is just a trial, yes windows 7, I believe

Change should let you run the Repair.

P.S. please attach screenshots directly here in the forum; not on some dubious 3rd-party servers.

 

I click change and nothing happens

 

That means the installation is totally corrupted.

Did you perform a full backup, or at least a System Restore Point before you ran that "cleaner" program?

 

I am not sure, I think that one of the things it did was a restore point.

 

Then a System Restore to a date before it happens will hopefully clear it up.

 

how risky is a system restore, and does it erase things I have added since that restore? I assume it does, which I dont like the sound of

 

Only software. Documents, pictures, videos, music, etc remain in tact.

 

it says my system restore is today.... I didnt do anything to make it that, and now my Iphone wont sync
