Win XP fax partial install

I tried to install the FAX function on my WinXP computer and when the program asked for several files, I just hit the Ignore button for each request. Now of course, the FAX program doesn't work. I don't recall the names of the files requested.

Is there any way to delete this partial installation and start the installation from the beginning? Alternatively is there a way to find out which files are missing and work the issue that way?

    Hi

Possible to try and use the Add Remove and Windows Components option to untick Fax Services and then reboot and then enter same menu again and tick the Fax Services option to install.

What service pack is your XP at? and is it fully up to date with all updates?
Do you have a 56k modem (one you plug a phone cable into) installed for faxing?

If you are using broadband then you cannot fax unless you use an online forwarding service like eFax etc

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try that again as you suggested in a couple of hours.

I am NOT using broadband, I use a telephone line and I have a built in 56k modem.

I have recently used the MightyFAX program, which works very well, but the trial period expired and I have not been able to buy the serial key to extend the use. If you know how I can buy this key, please let me know.

I have WinXP, SP3 and all software is up to date.

Thanks for any additional advice you can give.

You should be able to purchase your MightyFAX license from this page.

Thanks for the link. I e-mailed them and they got back with me as follows:

Hello. The developer removed this program from our catalog several years ago.
To my knowledge, his website no longer exists. This is the last email address
    we had for him:

    sales@rkssoftware.com

    Thank you

The RKS software website has been taken down. I'll try the e-mail address they reference and see if I get a reply.

Thanks again for trying to help.

The e-mail message sent to Sales@rkssoftware.com was undeliverable and bounced back.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

    Hi Walter

Did you manage to try the Add/Remove Windows Components and untick Fax and reboot and then go back to same menu and tick it again and reboot and see if Fax and Scan re-installed ok?

If any issues the full read me is HERE for setting up Fax and Scan in XP

Not found a good alternative that's free as yet, not much call for developing fax software these days.

Will see if I can export Fax from one of my PCs and then see if we can fix your partial install, long shot but never know, but do try removing Fax and Scan first via Add/Remove Windows Components.
