My favorite is Any Video Converter which you can download right from Major Geeks. Format Factory and Avidemux are okay also. However, and this is just my opinion, there is one to avoid - NCH's Video Pad. The program works great, but NCH dumps add-on garbage onto your computer that's not easily removed.

Blender is CGI; 3D creation, animation, games, etc. Hardly a video editor.

Just going by what the list states. It is up to the OP to figure out what they are for and the features.

But just to clarify things with you satrow why it is on the list:

"Blender is a widely used open source application for 3D modeling and animation. A perhaps not so well known feature of blender is its ability to edit video and audio, thanks to its sequence editor. In fact, it is a full blown non-linear editing module, which allows to apply numerous effects, as well as doing simple tasks as blending clips together, adding transitions, etc.

I have been using it recently to do some basic video editing, and I think it keeps up quite well in comparison with other, more “professional”, video editing tools. Since blender has its own unique interface, which doesn’t follow the conventions adopted by other programs (it is heavily optimized for a keystroke-oriented workflow), it might be a little bit difficult at the beginning, but once you learn the basic elements of the interface, is in fact very intuitive. Here you have two pages at BlenderWiki with detailed information about the sequence editor in blender:"

Yep, helps to go check stuff out, before shooting off the hip satrow.

Thanks do give us some feedback as to if this app covers what you need? helps me in the main advise users as to a good video editing app, as I don't use them so much, as I have no need.

But feedback from a user is great.

Windows movie is one great and easy to use device. But sadly like MS paint you cant expect much from it unless you're wanting to use basic editing tools. Either way not bad software.

    Hi.

I was unlucky, either I could not understand Windows Movie Maker or it doesn't support video trim (cutting out parts of video).

    Regards.

Sinan, WMM is very limited. Try one of the others, or try one of the Linux products. You can download Linux Mint or Ubuntu, burn it to a DVD, and then run it without installing. Both come with a movie editor software.

This list is from 2009 http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/top5-linux-video-editing-system-software/
