i am running windows 7 home premium, my windows update won't work, my windows installer won't work, my registry is corrupt or missing entries, i have a bad hard drive sector, i can't open any control panel functions, i can download programs, sometimes. i get explorer.exe errors, class not registered errors, i have had blue screen multible times, black boot screen, can't open display funtions.

it seems i am completely screwed at this point as i do not have the installation software, but the computer works. i have tried everything i can think of to fix all this, is there ANYONE that can help me with this, or guide me to the right place, or software, that is completely free....lol :***

    What is your make/model PC?

    How old is it?

    System specifications?

How long has this particular install been running?

    Do you have anti-virus installed?

    Do you have recovery software?

    thanks for your help

    it's an dell inspiron
    it is running windows 7
    it is model # gob12000
i'm not sure of the specs
it doesn't have a recovery disk
i did try the links you sent me, burned the program for the fisrt one, and once done it asked me to reboot with the cd, and it didn't do anything. so went into bios and changed boot directory to cd/dvd drive and it still din't work.
the second link did nothing at all.
oh, and the computer is probly three years old

I've been able to determine that you have a Dell Inspiron mini 1200. If it isn't out of warranty, you may be able to contact Dell and have them send you the CDs/DVDs that came with it.

As far as the specs, are you able to run ANY programs on it? If you can, download, unzip and run Speccy portable from a USB pen drive. Save the report it generates as a text file to the pen drive and post it as an attachment to your next post.

Be advised that Speccy saves your Windows Product Key within the report. So, make sure you delete that information from the report before you post it to prevent an unscrupulous person from using it.
