First off I built this PC myself about a year and a half ago maybe longer I think. I don't know anything at all about hardware and stuff like that.. I did a bit of research at the time and talked to some people and that's how I found out what components I needed to build a decent gaming PC fora round 1k bucks. I YouTubed how to build it and it's been running fine up until now.

When I play a game called Everquest 2 it randomly locks up my whole PC. Sometimes I get a blue screen with this message:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:

    BCP2: 0000000000000006

    BCP4: FFFFF880049F913B
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\081413-19203-01.dmp

I've played that game before for hours on end in the past just fine. Now, when I play it... the PC locks up. Sometimes it takes 45 minutes to happen.. sometimes 10. Sometimes an hour. But it usually does happen in an hour or less.

What can I do to fix this problem please?

A Stop 0xD1 is almost always caused by a device driver.

Go to C:\Windows\Minidump\ and copy all the *.dmp files to your Desktop, zip them and attach the zip here, we'll try to find the problem.

Ok, it's looking like the biggest problem is with USB, more specifically, the drivers for the WD external drive, update them with the WD SES Driver x64 from here: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/5419

    wdcsam64.sys Wed Apr 16 09:39:08 2008 (4805BB2C)
Western Digital SCSI Arcitecture Model (SAM) WDM driver 2008 driver version has known BSOD issues in Windows
    http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=wdcsam64.sys

There are other older USB -related drivers too, mostly for Logitech devices, please update them all, if you can. (Logitech drivers in bold in the bottom table.)

It's possible that one of your nVidia graphics drivers is corrupt; reinstall, or get the latest version and install it.

Any further crashes, zip and attach the new dumps :) and we'll look them over.

Ok thanks. I updated the Nvidia driver after I posted the zip.. but the game still keeps freezing my computer and locking it up. It only happens when I'm playing that game and it usually happens in less than an hour. Is there a way to see what is causing that problem? I figured it was my graphics driver needing an update but that wasn't the case.

And as for those Logitech drivers.. which ones do I need exactly? I only have 2 Logitech devices on my PC and that is a wireless headset and a webcam. But there's more than 2 items in bold that you showed me.

    Thanks.

The most important thing from what I can see is updating the WD drivers or removing completely the device and related drivers/software. Even if USB only ranked 2x in the 4x crashes, it's not inconceivable that it was the cause of the problems leading to the other 2 crashes, leaving nVidia and the CPU with the smoking guns.

Details on the Logitech drivers listed, if you don't have them or they aren't connected any more, uninstall the drivers/software for them:

I can't find the drivers on Logitech's site.. For some reason they only have the software download for the devices and not the drivers. Unless I'm not looking in the right place.

I went to the downloads section and selected the devices I have and it is only showing software for them.rolleyes

It wouldn't let me edit my previous post but this is what I did:

I uninstalled all of the Logitech software I had on my PC and then manually went in and deleted those .sys files you listed.

Unplugged all of my Logitech devices

    Rebooted

Plugged in each device one by one and let it install drivers automatically

Downloaded webcam and then headset software

Hope that gets everything updated correctly? If the game still crashes I will post back and let you know.

    Thanks

Grrrr ok after all of that still same problem.

Game locked up my PC after 30 to 45 min. No blue screen or anything just completely froze and locked up pc as usual.

I checked the minidump folder and those files weren't updated today so I doubt the reason why the PC locked up would be in there?

Please help me fix this it's very frustrating.

The drivers loaded automatically would have been the same as the ones you removed/deleted. The way around this would have been to have uninstalled the devices individually via Device Manager and, when prompted, removed the software/drivers from Windows' storage as well.

If you installed the webcam and headset software, not just downloaded it ;) , that should have refreshed the drivers too - hopefully, with later versions; you can check/compare the dates on the drivers, they should be named the same and in the same locations from which you removed the old ones.

And the WD external drive software/drivers? Updated yet?

    EDIT: added RED ;)

Sorry, yea the WD was the first thing I did. Updated driver for it and even unplugged it and left it unplugged when playing game. Still not fixing problem sadly.
