I am fired up! We finally got the beast up and running, more or less. It needs some TLC, and work, but we got prints from it today! It has a Linux computer that boots a Windows computer, that then goes to the web?

Good stuff, getting great patterns from the print heads, this one is going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

    :-D

17" monitor for perspective. If it was not powered up, I could crawl up in it and take a nap.

Do you purchase the ink in gallon jugs or does a tanker truck deliver it? :-D

Dude, that is very cool. I'm a Linux weirdo. What kind of Linux computer powers the beast? :)

Well, 6 colors, in 3L bags. Brown Santa usually drops it off. You can print a LOT of square feet with 18 liters of ink... :-D

This I don't know, I say it is Linux, cause that is what the tech support called it. It does not boot to a traditional 'desktop', just a screen only relating to the printer. And it has a TON of stuff connected to that box. I can say it ain't Windows. :-D DOS would be a possibility, but I would think it is a 'Nix varient.

Has a KVM switch in the case to swap between the two. We did some bidirectional and step calibrations on it today, getting better prints, but still not ready for 'production' status. Getting close!

I am curious as well as to what OS runs the printer side computer. When we get our RIP server up and running, we will be all high tech. :-D I have watched several times as it boots, it does diagnostics, then goes straight into a log file screen, with options on the top. Not a traditional OS.

Some better pictures of what this beast prints, for those wanting to see. http://www.wide-format-printers.org...-600_UV-cured_combo_flatbed_used_excellen.pdf At 350sqft/hr, that is one huge sign that sucker can print.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjJIrpw7bQo Looks like there is a company in the UK that rebuilds and sells parts for that beast http://www.ksprintservice.net/print-head-rebuilds/ Looks like there is a pretty good forum with good info in it on these flatbed printers. If you have not already found the forum, it is http://www.signs101.com/index.php

If you print anything for Duck/Buck Commander on that beast, can you show it off; if you are able to do so.

Not on that printer, yet. I would think it in bad taste to show copyright stuff without approval... We may or may not do some DC work.;)
