OEM DVD burner questions?

I'm beginning to collect parts for my first PC build.

I was going to buy an OEM DVD burner on sale but don't know if I'll have a data cable for that or the hard drives.
The computer case comes with a bag of screws which I'm hoping is sufficient for mounting the drives, but I'm not sure about
    the data cables.

The same question applies to the hard drives.

Will I need to buy data cables as separate items?

    Thanks.

I'm sure you know that SATA drives sit one per cable so, if the hard drives and the DVD burner don't come with their own data cables, yes, you would need to purchase them. If, on the other hand, the drives are IDE, you could use a master/slave cable for two hard drives, but the DVD burner would need a separate cable. It can't be combined with one of the hard drives in a master/slave configuration.

"OEM" drives (hard drive or DVD) do not come with cables (for that matter, many retail boxed ones no longer come with cables either).

To be on the safe side, order one SATA cable per SATA drive. Also, be sure the power supply has enough SATA power ports to accommodate the number of drives installed. If not, you'll need to order 4-pin (IDE) to SATA power adapters as well.

    Hope this helps. :)

If your doing a full build data cables will come in the motherboard box.

Unfortunately, not always. The past two boards I've purchased only came with one SATA cable. Both were in factory sealed boxes. Granted, each was under $100, but really...can't board mfrs. splurge and include at least two?

If you're using a large tower gaming-style case, I'd also buy 18" cables for each drive, just in case you need the extra length.

Amazon now has an Add-On feature with some low priced items, so I can use that with these cables
    They are 14 inches long.
Probably get everything from Amazon and Newegg.

It will be a full build and the motherboard I'm considering appears to have two cables with it.
I'll be getting a Micro ATX board and a Mini Tower Case

I'll have a bunch of questions later on.
