    Hey guys

I have a massive problem on my laptop and I have no idea how to fix it. My internet works totally fine but most of the time I watch a video online, my internet just keeps cutting off. Restarting the computer always fixes the problem straight away until I watch another.

I know it's not due to any bandwidth usage or anything like that because I have Sky Broadband Unlimited. And when it stops working it states on the computer that's it's still connected and the internet is still sending and receiving packets and it shows it has internet connection.

It's just this laptop what does it as I can use the internet on my other devices.

Any help would be appreciated as would like to get this problem sorted ASAP :)

    Alan.

Can you post computer details please include your operating system, anti virus, firewall, internet browser and any browser extensions/addons.

Can you play videos offline with no problem? Can you post the site your watching videos on and the video type, I'll assume it's flash videos from a site such as youtube causing the problem and post a preliminary fix-

Whichever browser your using uninstall in control panel/programs then reinstall the latest version from their website I suggest you use Google chrome to keep things simple unistall adobeflash player 'again in control panel' and install the latest version, be sure to UNCHECK Mcaffee security scan on adobe's page.

If this doesn't help post back with requested info:)

    Hi there

I have tried the following steps and still no luck with my issue :(

The videos sites which stop the internet are Youtube and Skygo (Sometimes) but strangely, if there is a youtube player on an external site, it works.

I use Google Chrome, when the internet cuts out, it stops it all browsers from aseccing the internet, I also have no plugins installed.

I use AVG antivirus free edition with the firewall built into AVG.

    Computer specs

Windows 7 home premium Service Pack 1
    Manafacture; Hawlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilon g6 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD A3-3300M APU with Radeon (tm) HD Graphics 1.90 GHz
    Installed Memore: 4GB
    System Type: 64 bit

Update your video card driver, make sure windows is fully updated.

Make sure your search provider in google chrome is Google.

Try to watch a video, while your internet is blocked go to start type cmd to open a command prompt and type ipconfig/flusdns,try to watch a video, does it work?

If not and while the internet is still block right click your connection at the bottom right in the taskbar and click troubleshoot problems, let it fix any it finds and post result.

Go to control panel, admin tools, event viewer and look for any errors at the time the last video was blocked, post what you find plus the code.

If you still have no luck open task manager while the internet is blocked, show processes from all users. Are there any processes using a lot of cpu?

This next part is to make sure you have a firewall and ONLY one-

AVG anti virus free doesn't have a firewall, AVG INTERNET SECURITY however does, check which one you have, in the firewall settings select 'allow all' or completely disable the security then try to watch a video, as soon as you've tested re-enable the security.

Next if you have avg internet security uninstall it and install avg anti virus free edition, this will eliminate lots of security tools within avg that can cause problems.

Check there are no additional security tools installed in control panel programs.

    Install this-

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/comodo_personal_firewall.html

Once installed go to control panel and make sure windows firewall is disabled, open comodo and disable sandbox mode and defence mode but leave the firewall on.

Now try to watch a video.

    Hi there,

Sorry my mistake, We use to have AVG Antivirus free but we now have got AVG Internet Security as my mum purchased a one year subscription. I fount out by searching the internet, it was actually AVG's video accelerator what was causing the problem. Although I had no problems with it before, so I disabled it and Youtube and Skygo now work on this laptop.

Thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it :)

Sorry for posting again but the problem is actually worse now... The internet is now just cutting out randomly instead on Youtuve, so I'm going to do a virus scan and get back to you, if that's not the problem, I'm going to try those following steps you game me :)
