Is PCMedik worth getting?

Did you read the comments about that software farther down the page in your link? PCMedik has had a terrible reputation for years, even giving it away for free it is overpriced. I'd never put a "one-click fixit" program on any computer I use, they usually do more harm than good.

  2. Thanks.

I didn't notice that there were comments. I moved on to other things needing my attention.

I agree. I am not going to use any "one click" functions unless they provide me with a very detailed explanation of just what it is they will be doing., rather than "trust me". I find using certain modalities of programs like Glary Utilities and Kingsoft PC Doctor is very useful to me, but I avoid the "one click" modality.

I am glad to be informed of that. I won't be getting it.

I'm going to go a step further and say you should NEVER download a cleaning, virus removal or other PC "fix" program unless you are SURE it is highly rated and know EXACTLY where it comes from.

At best (like PC Medic), it will do almost nothing to help your PC. At worst (read: most of the time), "free" cleaning programs not downloaded at trusted sites will actually add malware infections to your computer. I get several PCs each week in my shop where the software install history shows how people went nuts trying to get rid of issues using malware-laced software.

Major Geeks is a trusted site for downloading software. If you want to tune up your PC, look in the downloads section for programs such as Advanced System Care Free.

If you need a pc booster use Advanced SystemCare 7

  5. That's interesting. Since my Delta Search debacle last spring I have been rigorously scanning every download with multiple scans, including multi-engine scans with Virus Total, Jotti, and WinMHR, as well as doing some right-click scans with individual programs. I don't think I've really encountered any infected programs in that time period. Maybe it's because I'm choosing my downloads well. But I would really be curious and interested in hearing you get specific and name names about malware-laced programs you have found in your work on people's computers. I don't get to talk to a practitioner like you every day.

I have a trial of Advanced System Care Ultimate, and I'm actually getting to run the Bitdefender engine alongside avast! In a few days it will be over, and I don't know just what will be left. Certainly not Bitdefender engine.

There is no magical PC Cleaning utility. They are all snake oil and often wreck your system rather than do any good. that includes registry cleaners.

Best way to clean a PC in my opinion is a clean Windows install, then only install reputed programs, no cracks or what soever... your system will be clean as possible that way

There's a difference between cleaners and boosters. Boosters are crap, cleaners like CCleaner are a must have. And if I read your post correctly, instead of emptying temp files and the like I should just reinstall Windows after each use? :-D

Yes there are differences you just have to realize that.I am just going to throw this out there Advanced SystemCare 6/7 is one of the very top cleaners in my kit and it works just fine.

There is no point on reinstalling windows 100 times. You just need to learn on how to clean a lot of it your self like i have.

They only wreck your system if the program has a bug in it that has not been fixed or its the users fault for messing with the program options.90% of the time it is the user not the program.

Don't say that they are all snake oil unless you used them.

And the best way to clean a system is to learn how to clean the system the right way. There is no need to reinstall windows ton's of times.Unless you had a bad nasty infected system.
