keylogger detected during setup

I've been looking for an open source pc audio player and downloaded Sound Vibe to try out. I use Online Armor for my firewall and am satisfied with it.

When I tried to run the Sound Vibe setup, Online Armor detected a keylogger. I canceled the setup and did an online search to see if I could find any info but came up empty.

Does anyone know if the keylogger detection might have been a false positive or should I suspect it was real? I've used open source software on many occasions and have never had something like this happen. I prefer the open source to commercial software because most don't include toolbars and other junk.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Could you please post what your Online Armor found. We may be able to provide you with relevant information.

If you have keylogger software on you system count yourself lucky --read the data I found
-------- reasons to own Keylogger Detector: •You have confidential information on your computer (bank account information, credit card information, employee records, etc.
    • You SUSPECT your spouse is spying on your online activity.
•You like to cyberchat with the opposite sex, and don't want your spouse getting suspicious.
    • You don't want others obtaining your email and internet passwords.
•You use personal email accounts like Hotmail and Yahoo email and don't want your employer snooping on these emails.
    • You don't want others seeing what pictures you look online.
•You want to protect you and your family from identity thieves, credit card thieves, online stalkers and pedophiles.

    Did You Know:

•More than 100,000,000 computers are monitored.
•Spy software programs allow anyone, even a novice, to secretly record ALL of your online activities and all typed texts.
•Spy software can be installed on your PC remotely, without physical access to your PC.

mdonah - First of all, thanks for the welcome.

Do you want me to post a screen shot of the error from Online Armor or will a description from the detection notice suffice? I'll try running the setup again and see if I can duplicate the error.

Okay, I just tried the setup for Sound Vibe again and called it quits. The program was wanting to make changes to "explorer.exe" and it also wanted to access my HDD directly. Decided I was having no part of that. Will run MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware and make sure there's nothing harmful left on my machine.

I downloaded and installed SoundVibe from SoundVibe.net, ran Malwarebytes full scan afterward and encountered no issues (see attached). It's possible the Setup file you used was modified. Try downloading SoundVibe directly from their site, not a download mirror, and see if your Online Armor firewall still flags it. If it still does, it's a false positive.

mdonah - I will heed your advice and give this one more try. Thought I dl'd from the authors site, but now that I think about it I followed a link from a review page. Perhaps the setup file had been modified.

Thanks for your help and taking time to mess with this little problem. Much appreciated.

    You're welcome.

I experimented a bit with Sound Vibe. I like the Aero interface, the fact that it's skinnable and that there's an EQ with presets. It's shortcomming to me is the fact that it's only for local media — MP3s — I can't stream audio like Shoutcast Radio or iTunes Radio with it so, I'm not going to keep it.

I also get some tips about how to detect keylogger, hope it helps you.
Type CTRL + ALT + DELETE, it will open your Task Manager, Processes tab look for BKP. exe or AKL. exe, if you find the BKP. AKL exe or. exe's why you have keylogger.
    * Remembering that if you can not always detect Keylogger by CTRL + ALT + DELETE.
