Apologize in advance. I know this has probably been discussed ad infinitum, but figured I'd just ask the question, and do some research in the mean time. Please steer me in the right direction.

Using small ASPIRE ONE laptop, and Running Windows 7 and IE10. I know how to delete the browsing history with "internet option tools", but is it permanently deleted? Would like to permanently delete. Thanks. Ed.

I know that Firefox gives you the option of not remembering anything on exit. I'm unsure about IE 10. if you want to make sure Browsing History is permanently erased, you might want to try CCleaner (see attached).

Thanks. Looks like I'll be downloading CCleaner. One quick ? If I have those boxes checked in CCleaner, does it erase automatically, like after every session, or do you have to do it manually each time? Ed

You'd have to run CCleaner periodically. It doesn't tie in to the browsers. I wish I knew if there was a way to get IE 10 to forget on exit like Firefox can be set to do but, I've only got an older machine with IE 8 on it and IE 8 can't be set to forget.

I can get IE10 to forget on exit. It's one of the 'Internet Options.' I was just wondering if it was REALLY forgotten, or if someone with a few skills could recover the history? And if so, how could I PERMANENTLY delete it. That was kind of the basis of my original question. Thanks. Ed.

Ya. You can recover it. I recommend browsing in Private Mode. It doesn't save your history. All of the main browsers have this feature thankfully including Firefox, Chrome, and IE.

Also, you can use Privazer to delete quite a bit of data from your computer too permantly.

Pretty much Private Mode allows you to browse the internet without the browser remembering what you have done in the first place. Try it out.

    IE says:
InPrivate Browsing helps prevent Internet Explorer from storing data about your browsing session. This includes cookies, temporary Internet files, history, and other data. Toolbars and extensions are disabled by default. See Help for more information.

To turn off InPrivate Browsing, close this browser window.

Thanks for the "In Private Browsing" hint. Will be using that from now on.

Now...to permanently delete the 4 years of browsing history on my work computer :)

    Privizer, here I come!

    Thanks for the suggestions. Ed

We don't know the reason of your question but If you want to sell or pass your laptop to someone you don't fully trust just smash your hard drive with a hammer, computer forensics can find stuff you never think is there :)
