Lenovo Thinkpad type 2746-4wm Serial No. ABA7G 08/09

Help!

The darn thing won't start. I've verified the power supply is good and I've lifted the keypad and top cover, following the cables from the back of the power input plug through to the motherboard.

There is 20v dc on the board, to the back of the power supply system and the capacitors on the board, but for some reason or other the on/off switch will not start the computer up. I've tried bypassing the on/off switch but no luck.

I don't have and circuitry for this computer so any help in isolating the fault would be appreciated.

The fault just 'appeared' when I turned it on a few days ago. No prior warning, no flashing or hickcupping, no obvious clues, nada.

Please, please help me.

Try this 1

Unplug the power cord --> Remove the battery --> Remove the RAM from the slot

--> Hold the power button for 60 seconds --> Place the RAM back into the slot

--> Connect the power supply then try to switch ON the laptop and later put the

battery back into the laptop.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately your clue didn't work. However, I somehow or other think you're you the right track. The problem seems to be not so much as any physical fault but maybe a setup/programing problem. Who knows, but thankyou for trying.
